This is really my 1st souls game... played some of Demon's and DS1 but fell off.

I've stuck this one through, and after a point it's become total crack. I have like 80 hours or more logged in. I've lost so much sleep over this game. I go to bed and then wake up hours later and try to fall back asleep but I keep thinking about it while trying to fall back asleep... I'll just go, fuck it and turn the PS4 back on.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

^ Yes, those games are dope. I remember falling asleep while thinking about what to do next in Dark Souls, and waking up earlier to do it first hour in the morning.

I feel like I still suck at it compared to most here... but I'm on the last area right now.

I only slept three hours this morning after playing Dark Souls 3 since 9:00 PM the night before. Here is a photo from a sleep tracking app I use to monitor my rest. I would have gone on for longer if I did not have to work today. :?

Yeah I got it last week Monday at midnight... as of right now I have 100 hours logged in it. In one weeks time I've put in 100 hours. That is a 1st for me at 39 years old. There was one day where I played for 12 hrs straight. Only stopping for a bathroom break or to eat, the food came with me back to the PS4.

Really debating picking this up right now even though
A) I have only played Bloodborne and just a few hours of Dark Souls 1
B) I was considering upgrading my GPU somewhat soon so I can get a solid 60FPS

Highly tempted to just snag a copy for my ps4 and say screw it to the reasons listed above...Is the PS4 version pretty comparable to the PC or would I be better off waiting till I get a new card?

That depends on your PC. How old is it? I'm playing on a system from 2012 (OC'd 3570k, GTX 670) and I get 60fps at 1080p most of the time by turning down everything except texture quality. With the PS4 you can expect 30fps with drops. I'll take 60fps with drops over 30fps with drops any day.

PS4 version (so far) is very playable. I've seen some of the pretty PC graphics, but it isn't like you're getting a bad port with the PS4.

Yeah, I can't sink the amount of time other people are into this, but this weekend is looking promising. I'm loving how labyrinthian the levels are. So far it is still relatively linear, but I've heard later everything begins to interconnect. Finding that in every level I 'clear' I'm missing lots of secrets, and pretty much any time I don't feel like I've quite figured everything out, I've undoubtedly missed some huge elements.

Oh yes, might as well mentioned it here. I was trading with the crow, and did the normal 'reload procedure', only to find when I did reload, my loot from the crow was gone, nor would the crow accept another identical item. So yeah, never do this!!!

I have a pretty decent 8 Core i7 that I built last summer. Never got around to getting a GPU but I'm toying with either the AMD r9 390 or Nvidia GTX 970. After watching a few videos comparing the two cards (and consoles) I think I'll probably end up snaggin the GPU so I can play it with high settings

Regarding graphics cards, any 3-4 gig or more card will run it smoothly on max settings.

Since the majority of your character progress carries over to new game plus, does it really feel ant harder than your 1st go around? I'm at level 130 and almost done with my 1st play through.

If it's anything like the preious games, the difficulty in NG+ will mostly be the same as in NG, except for certain bosses. Things get more interesting the higher you climb the NG+ ladder.

Since I'm still struggling, to be honest I don't want it to get harder yet. So I'm debating if I should play again or start again with NG+.

I feel like I'm struggling at times anyway, maybe that's just how the game wants you to feel though...

If you are level 130 you are already going to find NG+ very easy.

It's balanced for around level 100-110 at the start, if not perhaps a bit lower than that.

Don't feel bad about it. I started with Demon's Souls and it took me until Dark Souls II to feel ready for NG+

Welcome to the fold. Make sure to chime in when you fight some of those last notorious bosses. I skipped the optional one, but I'll get to that later. The second to last boss, almost broke me.

I only have the last boss left, that I know of.... I've been holding off and buying up stuff, upgrading etc. I beat that dragon Shrine area and also those two brothers, so as far as I know I just have one more boss. I'm at level 133 now.

I've been farming sum and making/leveling up boss weapons. I've been using a 10 level katana the majority of the game, but I imagine the boss weapons must be the shit right? Have I been missing out not really using them?

I was farming souls last night by helping folks fight the twins boss online. I tried the Farron Greatsword since I'm playing around with the boss weapons. It seemed to do massive damage. Have I been missing out on boss weapons or is that one really effective on that boss?

Still mucking about in Farron's Keep. The dragon dudes are kicking my ass. Made good use of the dagger special skill to move around. From Soft loves these big poisonous areas and it is incredibly hard not to get turned around. Looking forward to someday actually having a mental map of this place.

Yes... friends and I had many a joke regarding "swamp rolling". I've had to be the guide a few times in the swamp because friends got sick of looking for those flames to put out.

From the first fire you put out, you can see the next one, and then the next. Sticking to the fire in general, even on the ground will take you where you need to go.
I didn't even bother to fight the giant beasts in the swamp, just roll past and keep on rollin.

The Twin bosses, are the ones that gave me such a hard time. There is one boss after that. Have you taken on the optional bosses? Nameless King, I skipped, firs time around, as I was fried.

I don't know yet, if the boss weapons are that good yet or not. They usually don't end up being fan favorites, oddly enough. On my second playthrough, I farmed the Dark Wraiths, and got the Dark Sword. This sword is great.

Yeah, in a lot of ways it was probably my mistake for wanting to discover everything. Yeah, the dragon dudes are the dragon headed giant things that hit you with a tree stump, shoot skulls at you, and more importantly have a strong AOE. Well past that now. Got stuck on the Abyss Watchers (which I heard is the easiest boss...*sighs*) and messing about in the Cleansing chapel area instead.

Lol Abyss Watchers is not the easiest boss at all.

It took me 4-5 goes to do it and I've played the Soulsborne series a lot. Don't worry about it, it's not a race.

Glad I took the other path (instead of bashing my head against the Abyss Watchers.) I'm really enjoying the whole cleansing chapel area with all its short cuts, traps, etc. This area is CLASSIC dark/demon's souls! That I've only seen probably about a third of the game so far is really encouraging.

One thing that makes From Soft games so amazing is the attention given to the world. I was watching ENB's playthrough and realized you could see the giant archer from the beginning of undead settlement, and at the same time look behind you and see the tower coming up from the swamp. I'm already looking forward to my second playthrough when I can identify landmarks right from the beginning.

I'm done with my first play through. I've had very little NPC interaction this first time around, mostly because of my random covenant affiliations. Will start NG+ soonish. Amazing game.

Only one boss left to down, i.e.,
Spoiler
Nameless King
. I got him down to a quarter health and died like a sob. I do feel like some of the bosses are a lot more fun when battled alone. Some of the late encounters should limit coop play for a bit more of a challenge, imo.

Great stuff, still.
