Anyway, I'd really rather bitch about english classes repeatedly telling you what a pronoun and a preposition are. Pretty sure you can get all that covered by the 4th grade, and most local people have the english down pretty well by the 3rd.

People in my 12th grade English class, several of whom I've known since elementary school, were really proud of themselves when they managed to remember what nouns and verbs were, after spending about a minute trying to do so. During one of our "peer-to-peer proofreading" sessions (yes, "blind leading the blind" was part of our curriculum), I had to correct someone on how to spell the word "hat". Sometimes I wonder if there is really even any point to public schooling after elementary, beyond its secondary function as a daycare.

I doubt we would still be talking about the Holocaust like it happened in our lifetimes if the US had committed any particularly ruthless acts of war on Germany. For some reason, we can't get enough of our own self loathing, so we will look for any excuse to absolve those we defeated in war of theirs.

Oi, this was one of the dumbest things I ever saw: College Preparatory Math (CPM). Instead of the book teaching you techniques, it just asked vague questions and was like "one of your group members in class will teach you this secret move!"

We like to blame humanity, but goddamn are the courses wretched. Something as simple and fun as math, they turn it into an obtuse joyless crucible. My "work group" got more out of the ~2 hours I spent teaching them in class than they ever got out of the entirety of that book.
