Hi All,
I hope I'm in the right forum.
Major problems with the XRGB Mini, my Samsung LED Smart TV and the N64.
I followed this setup here
How To XRGB-mini: Nintendo 64 (Framemeister)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZpNngJa8Dc
And about a million others and the N64 still looks very clunky compared to all the setups I have viewed.
I had to adjust the my LED tv + framemeister just to make it look decent.
Now I know all the graphical issues with the n64 but in the many vids I've seen with people using s-video in the XRGB playing Goldeneye, it looks like a million bucks compared to what I see when playing Goldeneye. I can't even tell the difference between enemy coming at me and the wall he's standing at.
If anyone has a solution to setting up the XRGB with an LED TV and S-video N64, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance

What S-Video cable are you using? Many cheap s-video cables are made wrong and just route composite to the video pins, leading to significantly degraded image quality. I'm using this cable on my SNES, and it's pretty good:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/The-best-S-video ... 1782319627?
In the previous auction for that cable, he sold 842 before the auction ended.
Monster's cables are also correctly wired, but they cost a lot more. The OEM Nintendo cables are also good, but obviously are rare.
EDIT: The rule of thumb is, cables that have both s-video (black) and composite RCA (yellow) plugs on the same cable are usually bad (lots of interference at best, incorrectly wired at worst). You want a cable that has nothing but S-video, left audio, and right audio. But that's just a rule of thumb, there can still be bad s-video-only cables.
EDIT2: MLiG did a good video on all the video options for the N64, all the way from RF to HDMI. If you're a big HDMI fan, it's worth noting that the UltraHDMI represents a massive quality improvement over any other option, although it's possible that a future N64RGB board could implement the "VI-Deblur" feature that gives the UltraHDMI such an edge. Thanks for the help. I'll try a new s-video cable, see if that helps.
I also had to change the setting on my led the sharpness was set to 50% which screwed up everything i set on the framemeister.

I agree with Guspaz. It's got to be the cable. I'm using the Monster Cable S-Video, and my N64 has never looked better. I also recommend watching the How to XRGB Mini Nintendo 64 YouTube video by Implant Games for some picture tweak settings.

I purchased a new svid cable off the link Guspaz recommended.
I'll try it out once i get it. Hopefully it'll fix the problem.

Awesome. The standalone s-video cable did the trick! Thanks for all your help!
