Oz the Great and Powerful was on last night, so I watched a good chunk of it.

it's... weird. On one hand, the acting is generally bad all around: the witch actresses couldn't act to save their lives, Franco is only entertaining when he is wildly overacting, and most characters don't make that much an impression.

However, it's also filled with a lot of Sam Raimi jokes, editing, and humor, so it's not a total wash. Seeing clear and obvious Evil Dead callbacks in the final scene with the Wicked Witch was fun, and the movie has the decency to indulge in the strange.

Kinda half-n-half all around, but I was entertained.

I rewatched TurboKid. Yuo, still the greatest movie ever.

I guess Skykid will want to know why. Each and every scene has music that fits perfectly with mood. I am a bit of a synthwave fanboy, Le Matos nails every track, perfection. I find the action hilarious, gruesome (but not in a disturbing way), and mindless fun. There isn't much of a story, survival, chick finds boy, gets help from badass, finds inner strength, traumatic past, overcomes evil.. There isn't a a single character or line in the movie that I felt could have been delivered any better than it was. Characters I thought I would have to tolerate, I ended up loving, scenes that could have dragged, promptly flow into the next without any hiccups. The ending leave me with a melancholic glow that inspires a desire to embark on a lonely journey into the unknown.

I usually go for less 'silly' movies, but the retro tone and nostalgic atmosphere of TurboKid simply makes me happy from beginning to end. Would watch seven million times more.

Yes, yes, yes! Great music, great characters, a surprising amount of heart, just a pure delight. Don't judge it based on that T is for Turbo short, the film is far superior.

Like I said before, Kung Fury is like eating frosting straight from the can while Turbo Kid is like a cake with frosting.

Hollywood's retards think that like Zen Buddhism is super deep and shit (deeper than like, those lame patriarchal western ideologies) so they need to shoehorn in that mystical mumbo-jumbo. But because SoCal is still filled with aging white hippy rejects, it only makes sense that a white dude would learn his pseudo-deep Zen mumbo-jumbo from another aging white hippy reject.

In these days I watched the CreepShow movie series with my family.

-The first one made by Raimi was very cool with its comic book's graphic clues and lightning, with digusting stories (the grass and the cockroaches ones left me such feeling).
-The second one has less stories than the previous one, but I liked the animated parts and the stories, while had a more pronounced comedic undertone, were still creepy.
-The third one has some cool ideas (like the connections between stories) and a nice filming, but it was a weak movie with a total lack of comedic undertone: or is full creepy or is full funny, especially in the last episodes

the Professor-wife was like something that Comedy Central would do and the Clinic's doctor seemed like a poor man Scrub's character

Overall, those movies were enjoyable despite I wasn't in the mood for horror movies.

Towards the top of the list would be The Usual Suspects for twists and nail-biters, but to even say that feels like a spoiler.

Chinatown's actual climax happens at least 15 or 20 minutes before the actual end of the movie; its shocking revelation by one of the characters far exceeds the action that happens afterward.

The Game.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed The Game, but it became so absolutely goofy by the end. It was like watching a live-action version of one of those anime cliches where the hero or villain planned out his master plan 40 steps in advance, to ludicrous levels of preparation.

Ha ha, Fincher's movies always leave a sour taste in my mouth for some reason or other, despite all the good work he does.
