Shmups Farm Freecycle (AKA offload your junk)

Post by PAPER/ARTILLERY »

So in the course of the last few years I've acquired all manner of random electrical items, many of which are no longer useful to me but have monetary value so minor I can't be bothered to put them on ebay. That in mind, i'm suggesting a freecycle-like arrangement where I will send you any of these items for nothing if you feel like they'd be useful to you (providing you live in the UK, I'm not made of shipping fees). If anyone else has anything taking up space and they're feeling charitable, stick it on here. Pay it forward and all that.

So there you have it, yours if you want it :)

I have a digital download code for The Sea Will Claim Everything. I beat it back in 2013 and absolutely loved the game (point and click adventure). It's by Jonas Kyratzes who was contracted to do the writing for the talos principle, and I got the code for free as a backer of ithaka of the clouds (council of the crows).

download code is up for grabs (shoot me a pm)

I've got boxes full of stuff like this. Unfortunately canada post charges a decent amount to ship outside canada, but if people are willing to cover shipping I can list a boat load of stuff. Old game boys, ds lite, super common $4 famicom carts, just stuff like that. Great idea ! I'd rather see this stuff go to a good home then sit in my closet. Not much value to the stuff but someone might want it.

Probably costs more to ship that Android tablet than it did to manufacture it ..

The most fun way of getting rid of such goods I found is to auction at the lowest possible starting price (this way I'm most likely to sell it off at all), reasonable shipping cost claimed, then savour it as it unfolds.
This way I eventually shipped some wares at higher cost than what I got paid (underestimated shipping cost), but on the balance I enjoyed the trading. Even knowing a thing or two about kind of things these fourms users buy, you'd be surprised to learn what more can be sought after. Vintage cel phone out of order? Someone could use it as a donor to assemble a working unit.

I'd auction all these as one bundle.

Obiwan - I'm sure I probably could make a small profit by auctioning these sorts of things off but I like the idea of just passing them on.

Didn't think about stuff that could be used for parts but I've got a few dead consoles knocking about that I have neither the time nor the ability to fix, I'll stick some photos up later. Off the top of my head there's definitely a PSone and a PS2, and a knackered Saturn if anyone wants to have a crack at fixing it. Might need postage for those though due to weight and size.

Some hipsterish types will pay a tidy sum for Minidisc players. Don't know why really, apparently they have really good DACs or something. Even though actually using them is a huge pain in the ass.

People who can't remember nineteen-nineties may have otlook on the epoque's artefacts not unlike many kids of the nineties had on the sixties. Even GBA SP, still practical to use on the go, exposed in public looks outlandish to the youth who must remember its time.
Soon any such gizmo with real buttons will become cool for a moment.

Really? What's a tidy sum? Last time I considered selling mine with a ton of disks on fleabay they were worth absolute peanuts. Probably about 3 years ago. Less than £20 iirc.

DCC players must surely be much cooler? I have a Hi-Fi Minidisc player as well as a portable one, but none get much attention nowadays.
