replace sega saturn A/V port

Post by Koop »

Hey guys I have a weird issue with my JP sega saturn where the AV port sometimes will just not work. If I plug the cable in 100 times it'll sometimes work, like 20% or so to give an idea. I've completely opened up the console and found no issues with the caps and such which leads me to believe that the problem is with the AV port itself.

Is there any way I can replace the port with a new one? Or bypass it?

you probably just need to resolder it to the board, right? Sometimes connectors can break at the solder point and just need to be reflowed.

But if the actual connector is worn out or something, I do know the old ATI All-in-wonder (maybe the 9000 series?) cards had similar connectors for their TV outputs. You could probably harvest a connector from one of those. That's if you can't find something similar for purchase.

And of course, you can always bypass it. You can bypass any connector on anything thing made ever. Just solder in your plug, or plugs, of choice. Like a vga connector for RGB and two RCA connectors for stereo.
