My TV is not recognizing my framemeister

Post by nintenthe3rd »

(I tried asking on the framemeister thread, but never got a response.)

Hey I just got a new TV, but the TV isn't recognizing the framemeister no matter what I do.
I tried every HDMI port and I still get nothing, the TV thinks there's nothing there (I don't even get the NO_INPUT screen)

The TV is a TCL 40FS3800

I really don't want to return this TV without trying everything.

Thanks in advance.

If that's the case, the TV is actually displaying it; the Framemeister is just outputting a black screen.

Actually no. (and I tried with my systems on)

You have it plugged in all the way into the HDMI output plug (and not the inputs), right? Silly question, but stranger things...

That was the first thing I checked. Connections are solid.
(and I switched HDMI ports... still nothing)

Have you tried a different HDMI cable? Have you tried powering up in a different order? A:xrgb first, TV second, B: TV first, xrgb second to see if that makes a difference?

Tried it; no dice.
is it possible that I have one of those rare TVs that just isn't compatible? (I know that list on the wiki hasn't been updated in quite a bit...)

How many lights are lit on the front of the Frameister?

It's sending the right signal so it's not the Frameister. Do you have any other display with a HDMI port to test it on?

I tried on one of my monitors, and I got the blue NO_INPUT screen. Haven't tried with a system, but I'm sure it works normally. It was working just as it should before I bought the TV.

Yeah.....it's starting to look like it might be your TV. Try one more thing. Hook up something that uses HDMI like a Blu Ray Player or system and see if your TV recognizes it.

Recognizes my Bluray player, computer and my Component2HDMI converter just fine.
So I guess I'm SOL?

What output mode are you using on the framemeister? Are you on HDMI or DVI?

I'm using HDMI mode, I don't think I tried DVI mode, but I doubt I'll get anything different. :\
Edit: I tried DVI mode, nothing changed.

Did you try switching the Framemeister from 480p to 720p or 1080p?

Make sure it's set to 1080/60p and not 1080/50p. If you're based in the US it may cause you some trouble.

I've held off buying a framemeister since I can't afford it really. But if I bought one and had these problems I would not be a happy bunny.

Every device like this should have a hard reset button.
ALL cables, no matter where you live should be produced by Micomsoft. All this BS about getting the machine from place A, cables from place B and C.. nonsense.

Considering the price i'm pretty scared to buy a framemeister. Any device that has 300+ pages of gossip, has to have hiccups.

Hopefully it works out for you mate.

Micomsoft does make cables (Japanese RGB21). You can buy them from Solaris Japan.

I have never owned a framemeister. I just know that people who buy them have problems or constantly fiddle with it.

I am not a fan of "problems" and I'd rather play games than "fiddle".

If you were thinking of buying a framemeister and you saw these types of threads wouldn't you be deterred?

Of course the OP could be just a bit unlucky and got a bad unit or TV or perhaps something happened to it when he wasn't looking.

It's possible the OP got a bad unit. It's happened to quite a few people including myself.

Nope!
I've had this since 2013.
I've tried monkeying around with this thing a few more times, still no dice. Though, like I said, it works fine on my other TVs. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Even though I just got it. :| (its a 40 inch btw)
Anyway, looks like the TV just doesn't like the framemeister, so I guess I'm returning the TV. Ah well, was hoping for solutions. Can't win them all, lol.

I've learned the hard way to stick with major brands as there tends to be very little information about budget TV's.

40" that's it? Get that baby stuff out of here broski.

Good luck with picking a new one. As suggested I'd go with a major brand. My Sony HDTV works great with my FM.
