Arcade locations map
Arcade locations map
Hey Guys,
Since early this year I am mapping all the arcades that I can find and with the help of the arcade community all over the world I managed to get 165 arcade locations on the map so far but I am sure there are plenty more to find. With this map I am hoping to get people of their couches and finding those arcades to enjoy some good clean fun together with family and friend. Let's keep this legacy alive.
Feel free to have a look at the map at http://www.arcadeuniverse.net/arcade-map/ .
Do you guys have some suggestions for arcades that I am still missing?
Regards,
Pieter

Re: Arcade locations map
Are you not counting locations such as Dave & Busters and Golfland? They have sizable arcades still.Sphere wrote:Hey Guys,

Re: Arcade locations map
Yes I am, Dave & Busters is quite the list so I am saving that for when I have a couple of hours because I do not want to miss one. Golfland, not sure how big the arcade part is and never heard of it before but if they have 10+ cabinets and are publically accessable then yes I will definitely add them. What is their URL?bulbousbeard wrote:Are you not counting locations such as Dave & Busters and Golfland? They have sizable arcades still.Sphere wrote:Hey Guys,

Golfland Sunnyvale for sure. Fighters galore.
Also, almost every Round Table Pizza I've been in has had a few cabinets. Two had Neo Geo's. A couple had galaga cocktails. Not really arcades per say but constant non the less.
Great idea btw

Re: Arcade locations map
This is pretty neat. Just sent a thing on the contact page about Arcade Odyssey in Miami.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
Re: Arcade locations map
Ah yes, NullSolaris
, thanks for the kind words.
Thanks for the addition. It is the first on the map for Miami and looking at the website it is a good addition as well. Nice amount of cabs. Thanks for the suggestion!
Let's keep them coming guys!

Gameworks in Seattle, WA has a large selection of machines including many newer ones, previously owned by Sega.
Another castle in Edmonds, WA has a nice little retro arcade attached to their main store. They also have a good 10+ pins running.

In NYC there is a Barcade Chelsea and a Barcade St. Marks.
There is also Two Bits Retro down on Essex St.

You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
Re: Arcade locations map
Thank you for all of your contribution guys, I added them all to the map with the exception of the Modern pinball. It looks great but does not fit my theme to be honest as I am looking for Arcade video machines of 10 or more per location but thank you for the suggestion nevertheless Stevens.

You're missing hundreds in Japan, especially the heavy-hitters like HEY and Mikado in Tokyo.
This site lists most of them (and these are just the arcades with shmups), so use google translate and get a pot of coffee going if you feel like adding all of those.

Re: Arcade locations map
You may add https://www.facebook.com/jplaycafe to Russia, Moscow
It's not "arcade center", sadly, but some kind of anticafe/club. They have several rhythm games cab, two Sega Naomi cabs (one for Initial D and other for Guilty Gear/Street Fighter) + most consoles with arcade-style games.
I personally never visited it because it was more like "place for beatmania geeks", but it might be closest thing that tries to replicate "arcade culture" here =/

In Glen Burnie, MD there's a restaurant named Crab Towne USA that has a nice retro arcade, including games like Gyruss, Forgotten Worlds, Atari Tetris, Mario Bros, Popeye, Assault, and Punch Out.

http://victorypointe.com/
Victory Pointe in Pittsburgh, PA has Espgaluda II, Twinkle Star Sprites, and others.
Also, you may want to check out zenius-I-vanisher's arcade map at https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/arcades.php. They mainly cover music games and it is constantly updated by a passionate community, but as you will see from the "Games" drop down list on their arcade search, some members do record other games aside from music games.

These are great tips RecklessRave, thank you for that. I have added Victory Pointe to the map and I will investigate the Zenuis map. There might be a lot valuable additions there. Great stuff, I appreciate this!RecklessRave wrote:http://victorypointe.com/

Re: Arcade locations map
zenius-I-vanisher's database is sometimes good, but some areas never get updated by anyone. I would say don't bother looking at Japan on their site. They took most of their listings for Japan from another site at some point in time, so many aren't updated.RecklessRave wrote:http://victorypointe.com/

http://aurcade.com/locations/ US locations. I don't know how good/updated the database is.
http://www5.atwiki.jp/gesen/ This site lists most game centers in Japan (although some are just UFO catcher only type places). It doesn't have any kind of game list, unfortunately. Game centers that have been closed are left on the list with a remark. Sometimes entries are wrong, like maybe a place has closed and no one has updated it, but most are good.
http://2dera.net/iidx_map/index_map.php This site is updated fairly often by users for Japan. It is only for Beatmania IIDX, but I think it's a good resource. Some listings also list other rhythm games the game center has. The site also has listings for a few other countries, but I'm not sure how often those are updated by other users.

Emporium Chicago (wicker Park). They have Yamazaki 12 year whiskey here, and a good game line up. Well, decent.
Logan Arcade Chicago (Logan Square). Haven't been yet, but will go at some point.
There are definitely more in Chicago... they are all bars before they are traditional arcades I would say, but the line ups aren't bad, they take tokens, and they have more than a few machines.

To be honest I don't know, never been there but from what I've read the arcades aren't what they used to be.

From what I've heard, IIDX and BlazBlue are still very common, and certain arcades are full of old school stuff(like TRY and such).okerlo wrote:If you like UFO-Catcher and Taiko no Tatsujin, yes.cj iwakura wrote:I'm gonna be like a kid in a candy store when I visit Akihabara on the 9th of April, aren't I?

1984 in Springfield, MO - nice place with a myriad of 80s arcade games
Re: Arcade locations map
Thanks for the suggestion. I might visit that location if I am around. My company actually has an office there about 14 mins drive
and with 70 cabinets that sounds like a blast!
Currently the map has 258 locations so if you have more feel free to share them. If you like the initiative feel free to like Arcade Universe here -> https://www.facebook.com/arcadeuniverse/ Thanks!

Re: Arcade locations map
No problem. I actually went to the Emporium last night. It's been a while since I've played the US versions of some of these games but I got the impression they were set on high difficulty. Only got to Stage 3 (and barely) on Super Contra, and did even worse at Double Dragon. Maybe I'm just old. There were tons of people there. With a little work you might be able to get laid after playing some video games. Where was that in our childhood?Sphere wrote: I have added them to the map GaijinPunch, thanks for the suggestion.
Worth noting: Yamazaki 12 year is out of production but they still have it.
