Hmm, not too many Viewpoint-style projects out there...is there a demo to try out anyplace?

A game almost literally titled 'asshole' by a guy who nicks himself 'a_hole'.

Hard to take seriously. Definitely needs a demo if you want people to give you a chance.

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

Looks promising, and graphics remind me of those korean Starcraft clones (similar prerenders). Demo, please?

Sorry but that last sentence

is really hard to understand. If you can't express yourself any better, I can translate from japanese.

thanks ryu!

デモはシンプルな作りでも構いませんか?
(まだタイトルとオプションが完成していないので、ボタンを押すとデモステージが始まりクリアするとゲームが終了する、というような作り)

Is it okay for the demo to be a simple program?
(meaning title and options screen aren't completed yet, and pressing a button leads to a demo stage after which the game terminates)
It sounds like you're still early in development. A demo to gather feedback is always fine, no matter where you are in development.

But for a Steam Greenlight release it's probably best to showcase a part of the finished product. A demo should contain the first 1 or 2 completed stages.

But that's just my opinion.

... which I'm not attempting to contradict here.

I'm left with the impression that evaluation builds are targeted and typically the first stage or two are chosen because their entry level difficulty has the best chance of appealing to the broadest possible audience. Unfortunately many games don't flex all their muscle in the 1st stage which may be a drawback for a more detailed evaluation by the core audience (who typically are bored with first stages). So there could be an argument for a later stage that defaults to novice difficulty (for broad appeal) but can be switched to arcade difficulty where the game can show off what it can do.

Yes, that's ok.

I didn't even think about that. You're right, but my point was just that a demo should contain a part of the actual game, and not a stage that is exclusive to the demo. I misunderstood U.N.K. and thought he had just started development.

I tried the demo, but on my laptop (Windows 10) the resolution was apparently too high for it to display, and thus the window looked like this:

I was also unable to make my controller work properly with it even using Joy2Key, so at the moment I'm unable to offer much feedback; once the demo is updated I'll be happy to give it another try.

The game ran double speed at a refresh rate of 120hz. I had to change my monitors refresh rate to play properly. Maybe you could force 60hz when the game goes fullscreen.

Other than that, I have zero criticisms. I love the lock on/bullet canceling mechanic, very very good. Nicely foreboding industrial music, The game is great, I can't wait for the finished version :D

I personally had no problems setting up controllers. Tried both a 360 pad and a directinput arcade stick.

I had the same issues, Windows 7.

There's a new build here that fixes the control issues (supposedly, haven't tried it yet): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B981m6 ... ef=2&pli=1

Dem Mars Matrix cubes 8)

Cool game, although I'm afraid of what exactly lies at the end now

Definitely getting flashbacks to Viewpoint.
