This thread is awful, literally ass, except ass can bring pleasure, and this thread is the goddamn antithesis of pleasure. This thread takes life from children and kittens and puts that pure innocence into phallic cancer pus. This thread is the disappointment and hate of humanity funneled into barely literate text that takes intelligence and shits all over it before making a shit sculpture out of the souls of everyone reading this shit of a thread. Everyone in this thread is the dregs of humanity, if even that, content with postulating whatever ass talk they can squeeze out of the withered rectum of their wasted lives.

Don't think there is anything wrong with playing purely for fun and not posting scores, even ignoring scoring entirely or whatever. It's not compulsory, you can just play for shooting things and enjoying the feeling looking at the sprites and listening to the nice music, sort of like a cinematic experience, many old school games had a focus on things like that.. (I love shmups for that too, could even cite passages of games that I liked best^^ kind of like favorite scenes of movies^^). Or trying to just get further in the game. I understand people like to have a super neat cab and things. Sometimes it seems too much collecting, depends, but why not lol. I'm the opposite, I have nothing but a few X360 versions I don't use (and no X360) that I bought to support Cave porting.

I'm not hating on collectors entirely, if I had the money I would buy everything under the sun. There just seems to be a trend of collectors never posting scores. SuperPang was just an example. Chempop has pointed this out many of times.

I do agree though sealed game collectors have a special place in hell. Im sure most pcb collectors obviously play the games which is all one can ask.

I'm just poking fun please don't take what I say as some sort of super serious insult.

Im more for 1cc than scoring and only learn the scoring techniques to the extent that i get the extends.
When I have 1ccd a game I move on to the next one to try to 1cc that.

Only one game so far has given me the urge to score more and in that game I am now using prometheus technique with savestates when practicing in Mame.

Lol.

For real though if I could I'd have a collection like SuperPang. I'm sure most of us would.

Chempop has pointed this out many of times.
I may have mentioned that most people who own piles of cave kits generally are not the most serious of players, but I don't think I'd name and shame, especially a respected longstanding member of the community. There are collectors like Spork who have 1-Alled every cave title, an accomplishment I myself hope to soon achieve (only a few to go)!

I wasn't trying to shame anyone I was pointing out a glaring trend of big time collectors never posting scores. Anyone can do whatever they want with their time / money.

Anyways moving on.

Buying expensive kits takes lots of money. Having lots of money means you have to work full time = less time to play games. Also, most top scores on this forum are accomplished by MAME players using save states (euwh!). Before most CAVE games were emulated, the only scores listed were by the people collecting PCBs. My belief is that MAME just takes the fun out of competitive scoring away from the PCB collectors.

High scores = lots of free time, no distractions.

I always thought you can make decent progress in a game with a couple of hours every week if you do it regularly (most important). Did this with a bunch of games on weekends, though my scores are mediocre.
Surely once someone has stuck with a game for years like some Garegga/DDP players here they don't need to practice all the time to keep improving and have consistency. Training modes reduce the amount of free time needed so if you enjoy the learning process it can be more fun?

1 Credit a day is enough for steady improvement.

Work, 3 kids, other interests. I post scores sometimes, but it's not like it's an obligation just because I own PCBs.

I don't agree with the high score = lots of free time thing. Most people can free up a couple of hours a week to play (like you would any other hobby) and if you don't it's just a matter of priorities.
Thinking that you need to sit down and spend extensive time in a short time frame on a game to git gud will most likely lead to burn out if anything.

Why spend lots of money on stuff you rarely play? And why come up with lame excuses to belittle the players that are better than you?

Collectors could buy PCBs or cars or plastic models and it would be all the same, something to spend their salary on.

Nobody has mentioned tviks yet.

He's dominating half the gradius scores. Usually at least 3x higher than second place... It's pretty bananas.

I would nominate Perikles. I've never in my life seen someone destroy so many games as quickly as he has. He is literally clearing games on a daily basis, and with very good scores on top of that. Nobody on this forum even comes close to his output.

Tviks is also a good choice, his Gradius V scores are just unbelievable and as someone who has spent extensive time with the game, I've honestly wondered if those scores were even legit for the longest time.
