Just so my home cinema is in the 21st Century (as well as the 20th!), this arrived the other day:

Weighs a frickin' ton. I have no idea what Pioneer have put inside, but it is proper heavy. Disc tray is virtually silent, so sexy. Not got this excited over a disc tray since seeing the Wondermega CD open for the first time!! lol
That's is a lovely piece of kit . What AV receiver are you using with it?

Thanks :) Love Pioneer stuff...

Onkyo Dolby Atmos set up... can't remember the model number, it's fairly mid-range but more than powerful enough for my living room - the wife keeps complaining because the bass from the sub makes the floor vibrate (our bedroom is on the floor above)! lol

Yeah, anything more powerful would just be wasted sadly.

A lucky escape. Was anyone killed or injured?

A mate of mine in the US was telling me pretty much every week a Meth Lab goes bang where she lives - heavy.

Most of my recent additions. The 2 sealed SNES Controllers and TV were given to me for free from my girlfriends dad. He recently retired and stumbled across em cleaning out his garage :P

Really like the picture quality on this crt, alot better than my old philips.

No. Nobody died but the lady who's apartment it was she was found on the grass thrown from her second floor apartment. Hers is the one with the wood over the door. They think it was a hash oil explosion or a meth lab. Both are huge here in Seattle.

Word word! I got the Saturn version after the superb PS2 disc, just because I love those STV->SS ports. And the cover artwork! Way nicer than the PS2's render.
Nice to see a bright side to that but really the Saturn release of Dynamite Deka is far outclassed by the Sega Ages 2500 game. Unless you're in love with loading every single scene or are just a die hard Deep Scan fan there is zero reason to own the Saturn version over the PS2 game since the PS2 game has the exact same Saturn build without loading in addition to the remade version. I guess you could argue about the controller too but thats easily rectified.

Artwork only takes you so far (ie, nowhere) and in certain cases theres little benefit especially when in the case of the import looking prettier/cooler you're paying for that and for no tangible benefit in game (Chelnov vs Atomic Runner losing english, for shame JUE/W).

On the other side there are good games hiding behind terrible artwork. Case in point the game on the left I recently found.
Image

Not only do you get The Legend Returns but Extra on the same disc - seriously, competition is toast. The Saturn versions run quicker which is nice but this is easily the best package outside of the original DOS games.

I will concede there are exceptions (with merit) to the art-first rule...

I thought the Saturn mode of Sega Ages Dynamite Dekka package was uglified (upscaled or somethin') - or I might be thinking about Saturn mode of NiGHTS (that sure looked uglier than real Saturn game on the same RGB CRT). Nothing against PS2 remake of Dynamite Dekka, mind - looks pretty good for a budget PS2 game. Isn't its framerate higher than ST-V/Saturn original?

Did anything like it happen in Breaking Bad? I haven't watched any of it, but a fellow polytoxicomaniac called bullshit on that show. (Amphetamine's been enormous here for decades now and I've never heard of its production ever moving past the cottage industry level.)

Not an STV->SS port. When I realised that I threw it in the trash.

Nah, I've had the PS2 version since release. ;3 The Saturn game's a luxury item I enjoy having around for the reasons stated. I don't mind the inter-scene load times, it's hardly D&D Collection.

"Artwork first" is most definitely not how I do things - Shadow Dancer JP could swap covers with the US disaster and I'd still have it on my MD shelf. I like Japanese videogames and the Genesis revision offers nothing of interest to me (see also Chelnov vs Atomic Runner). Bloodlines and Hard Corps look godawful but they earn spots next to the JP versions due to slightly superior regional tweaking. If Splatterhouse 3 JP was the version with laughably broken special moves, I'd toss it and get the Genesis one. (SH3 has more or less the same cover in both regions, but you see where I'm going!)

Very nice artwork on the box's cover.

Glad to see that you play Necromunda too. I play Space-Hulk myself.

Ok I really like Psikyo long posters now :D Got posters for Strikers 1999, Taisen Hot Gimmick Kairakuten, TGM2, Taisen Hot Gimmick 3, and JoJo. Also got the flyers for Surprise Attack and Hard Puncher, some truly great Konami artworks.

Haha, was half-expecting beefy AINE BUTT from Taisen ala the DC incarnation.

And Jesus that Surprise Attack artwork is beautiful. Road Warrior/Kenshiro influence aside, it also reminds me of my old N64 boxart favourite Hybrid Heaven. I kinda want to pick up a Japanese copy of HH just for the cover, though it's really not too great a game.

Boxart is likely to support physical distribution's life for a little bit longer. In fact, there are already official "copies" out there released without a single bit of the game's ROM in the box, like MGS5 for PC or Child of Light for PlayStation family of devices (if not all platforms; I'm not sure).

I have SH 1ED, 2ED and 3ED with the Genestealer and Deathwing expansions. I also have Advanced Space Crusade too :) Had lots of fun playing SH over the years and it never gets old. I have two copies of the Campaigns book too. Yes, it is exactly like playing the film Aliens :D I just know that one slight miscalculation, one missed move or mistake and the Marines are dead quickly.

Great game.
