I've "accidentally" built a great joystick :)

The thing is:

I own Sanwa JLF; Seimitsu LS32 and 33, and the Seimitsu 33 is my favorite and the Sanwa my least favorite (in terms of shmups).

I heard about a spring factory that changed their store to a new address, which is very close to my house, so i decided to pay them a visit with a stock Sanwa spring with me. I've asked for something similar but stronger, so i took a couple of springs home to test.

I just LOVE one of them, and now it's definitely my favorite joystick. It blows the LS33 out of the way

I never tried a "moded" Sanwa or Seimitsu with after market springs, but would like to hear what you guys are using nowadays since the last thread i find about "best joystick for shmups" is kind of old now.

Thanks for reading.

It's just a personal preference thing - but yeah like you found I'd always encourage people to tinker to get what they like. I don't think it's even the best joystick debate really, but rather getting the experience you want - and, all things being more or less sorted (screens+hardware + cost) I honestly think that for me most of it does center around enjoying the controls I'm using for type of games I'm playing.

Exactly what i think. Joysticks feel are such a "personal" thing that is makes it impossible to elect the "perfect joystick".

SANWA is higher quality than Seimitsu IMHO. Adding a slightly larger actuator (KOWAL or Paradise Arcade) is a good idea as well.
