Pink Sweets by far.

Mushihimesama is actually probably my 2nd least favorite. Futari is great, I just can't get into the first one for a multitude of reasons.

ESPGaluda 1&2 would be next after that.

Out of the various Cave games, Dangun Feveron is the one I have the hardest time getting into.

Yes! Seconded. I'm no 1cc player, so my opinion is null and void obviously, but I get such pleasure from playing all of them. Satanic pleasure.

I just can't enjoy Guwange. Ketsui never clicked with me either, even though I liked Death Label.

I expected pink sweets hate but all this Ibara hate as well? I mean I get how the game kicks you in the balls right away and most people can't beat the stage 2 boss but that's when you learn2play.

Worst cave game? I'm going with worst series - Deathsmiles.

Deathsmiles & deathsmiles II are rubbish imo.

Ibara & Pink Sweets are top 5 cave material. It's a shame they even have to be called cave games as they really aren't. Yagawa games with cave graphics.

Dangun Feveron.

While there may be things about other cave games I don't like, or other CAVE games I find boring, Dangun is the only one I find actively offensive for a number of reasons:

MEOMEOWMOEOWMEOWMEOWMEOW
The spazzy speed
BOOOOOOOOORING bosses
Etc.

Nah, I've made it to stage 4 boss of Ibara, and it's still trash.

Whereas Garegga's rank mechanics encouraged score for survival (at least until you're good enough to hit about 8 mil), Ibara's rank mechanics with its gonzo rank on medals and on bombs combined with a "lol bomb everything for roses and more medals" score system means that the entire system places scoring and survival at odds with each other, which is retarded and awful for a Yagawa game.

Where did you get this idea, it is actually not true at all. Both Garegga and Ibara can be played for survival with low score, both games reward scoring with allowing more deaths for rank management, and both games allow the player to push rank hard to allow for more score opportunity.

The problem is that Ibara's rank spikes so high on bombing and medalling that you're much better off dodging every medal than you are getting those medals and then dying. The same is not true for Garegga, as long as you don't drop the chain.

Having +10mil in Garegga, the BHmk2 and Glowsquid double whammy is lightyears harder than having +10mil in the last stage of Ibara, especially because you can just hadou cannon the final boss a couple times and it's over.

iirc plasmo and most people agree if you suicide every extend and get mediocre score (A-C) it's an easier clear than low scoring as you can get a ton of resources while keeping the rank in good control. Pretty sure what you describe only starts happening in stages 5-6 if you want to jack up the rank for the final boss, where coincidentally you won't be bombing much because of needing max bomb stock. If you're trying archer's WR route with max rank for your first clear that sounds like a terrible idea, it's the same with pushing the rank in garegga for BH mk2. edit: and yeah hadou makes bosses trivial

On topic:
Maybe galuda 2 and daifukkatsu? this made me realize I like all of the cave STGs in some way & don't have experience in most of them to judge how fun scoring really is. Haven't played Pink Sweets or Deathsmiles though.

I think what Obscura means is, the first 3 stages in Ibara are too hard compared to Garegga's.

Except I've made it to stage 4 boss in Ibara, so, no, it's not just a "Ibara is too hard!" whine.

The infamous "medal waterfall" and what it does to your rank is the perfect example of my point. If rank worked like Garegga, eating all of those medals and then suiciding those lives away would lower your rank a ton, instead of spiking it.

Ibara is trash, like nearly all post-Ketsui Cave.

I can't really get into Pink Sweets, Akai Katana, or Guwange... I just don't 'get it'.

Strange because I really like Battle Garegga and Ibara, but Pink Sweets just doesn't tickle the part of my brain that it should.

First three stages of DOJ are much harder than the first three stages in DDP.

Thus DOJ = bad game.

DOJ, easily. Game is way too anal about the chain meter depleting quicker than in any other game. I can't maintain chains to save my life in that game. Ship selection is pathetic, and it's the ugliest looking in the Donpachi series aside from Maximum. Even Bee Storm looks better visually. DFK is probably second worst. If even I can 1cc the first loop, then clearly something is wrong.

Are you talking about a 1CC with 1.5 autobomb version?

I'd like DFK a lot more if power mode wasn't a thing and only bomb mode had auto-bombs.
I don't need 4 movement speeds in my DDP games, that's just absurd.
