I wonder how many of us have aspergers syndrome. I was watching a documentary about it and one of the kids had 9+ old consoles on his bed. He was very proud.
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Sounds like a cool enough guy! The last sperg I looked up was busting in his freezer in preparation for chopping off his meat and two veg.

Schiit Gungnir Multibit DAC.
Funny name, but it works well. And yeah, it's sitting on a cassette deck.

1981 Diva has been among the most favourite, most watched films of my recent years, but it took me a while to get hold of a DVD whose cover wouldn't depress me.

If not 100% as cool as the original movie poster, then at least box blurb obscures none of its artwork. Could this concept be derived from the eponymous Free album cover, or was there some other notable design like it before?
I must admit some of the least disappointing PAL DVD covers appear to have come from the UK.
A question - does anybody here know how to easily tell the infamous original Fifth Element Blu-ray (PAL) print apart from remastered? Or was the "wrong" one NTSC US/C only?

^ If you like Beineix' films and you like Japanese video games you must check out his documentary Otaku. Especially now, 25 years later, it's like taking a time machine back to the glory days of Japanese pop culture.
Even features an interview with Tetsuya Mizoguchi.

Yeah, even a bit of Diva is like a tribute to the arcades as they were back in the day.

Does it have a pair of triggers?

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
you should have put something next to it. It's really smaller than one might think. Yes, it got triggers. It uses a different protocol than the larger 8bitdo controllers though, so it's not this versatile or easy to use.
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Bluetooth. It has a USB cable, but it's only for charging.cicada88 wrote:bluetooth or usb?
I think it works better as an Android controller (mainly due to configurable emulators available without jailbreak), but it does work well with some icade games, despite how it has some odd assignments for some games. Too bad Jeff Minter took his games off the iOS market since Minotaur Rescue and Gridrunner iOS have nice controls (though most of Minter's iOS games were designed around the touchscreen and a few of them are free on Android, though only Gridrunner has controller/keyboard support on Android). Midway Arcade and the 2600 games in the Atari collection definitely play much better with a controller. APB controlled better than expected with a pad.
Here's a picture next to a PS1 Memory card and a NES controller:

Love that Psikyo art - good stuff
Just so my home cinema is in the 21st Century (as well as the 20th!), this arrived the other day:

Weighs a frickin' ton. I have no idea what Pioneer have put inside, but it is proper heavy. Disc tray is virtually silent, so sexy. Not got this excited over a disc tray since seeing the Wondermega CD open for the first time!! lol

Great movie! Appropriately depressing as all hell. I love Kagemusha too - despite its rep as Ran's dress rehearsal, I found it entirely worthy on its own merits. I'm getting chills remembering one particularly great scene from Tatsuya Nakadai:nissling wrote:Gomorrah

Word word! I got the Saturn version after the superb PS2 disc, just because I love those STV->SS ports. And the cover artwork! Way nicer than the PS2's render.nissling wrote:Dynamite Deka is awesome.
The Ninja Warriors Again, Max Warrior and GB Contra, Mr. Dingsbums will know I heartily approve.

I just realised I've never seen a Japanese N64 Acclaim game (Xtreme G). I really like JP N64 boxes - big and substantial-feeling, with good dimensions for their portrait formatting. Though SFC-calibre artwork is admittedly scarce, especially with so many games using pre-renders to push the zomg polygons (WTF @ both Dracula 64s relegating Yasuomi Umetsu's cool artwork to the sidelines). That JP Smash Bros is the first I've seen since Sin & Punishment and Trouble Makers to give me the ol' feels... I might pick one up for old times' sake.

I'm extremely fond of Kagemusha as well, but I have to say I barely remember Ran.BIL wrote:I love Kagemusha too - despite its rep as Ran's dress rehearsal, I found it entirely worthy on its own merits.
I've seen Seven Samurai in a reference theater on 35mm once, very nice print. If you're gonna get it on Blu-Ray the Criterion is your only way to go. None of the other editions are anywhere near as good in the picture department.BIL wrote:Would love to see those, Seven Samurai and Videodrome on BD.
I bought the European Saturn port back in the days, and I miss it sometimes. Been thinking about buying the Japanese version again but priorities, man...BIL wrote:I got the Saturn version after the superb PS2 disc, just because I love those STV->SS ports.

That's a great bunch of movies! Been a while since my last Blu Criterion purchase...
Videodrome is one of my least movie ever, but that doesn't stop the Criterion from being a very high quality transfer of the movie. A great purchase if that's your thing!

3 Thumbs up for Chungking Express, Paths of Glory and 400 Blows. Poignant cinema!

Some pickup. Spending money I should be. Oh well!! Some is from February and some March.
Some games from Half Price Books
Had a B2G1 free deal at GameStop.
Got this for a good deal thanks to the B/S/T thread over on Neogaf.
Came in via Amazon. I love the 20% off with prime. Makes me preorder games again.
Gotta support shmups devs. Now here is to hoping more proper ones come out.
Thanks Limited Run Games! Keep up the great work!
Lost mine from when I was a kid and had the urge to re-read them.
First time owning an Apple devise. Going to be switching back to Android as soon as I am able to. Not a fan.
New 3/4 In. plugs.
New Hoodie from Ink Addicts.
New Tattoo.
And on a sadder note for me. The apartment I just moved out of not to long ago had an explosion due to a drug lab. It was the first place I ever lived on my own. I would have still been there if they did not raise my rent. I would have lost everything and would have had to be placed in a hotel.
