Hello all,
according to Hardcore Gaming there was a novel written by the game's creator, does anyone know anything about it and was it ever translated?

I am interested as there are few Shmups that got the full story treatment so this one stands out.
Cheers,
Minty.

Thanks, I saw that.Turrican wrote:Never translated as far as I know. but the Japanese original can be bought on amazon.co.jp
I was really wondering if there had been any translation effort though.

Sadly, no, it's never been translated. I'd love to read it too.
I had a look on Amazon.jp but I couldn't see the book. I presume there was just the one copy?
It would be super cool if it ever did get a translation. I wonder if there's any potential in a Kickstarter. I don't suppose the book is thousands of pages...

I really have no idea. I do know that Masonobu Endo wrote it himself though which makes it all the more interesting. The book was published twice so there must be a few copies floating around. Perhaps someone on the forum has a copy and just hasn't seen this thread yet?

Funnily enough I've got my pre-order in for the models and I've been salivating over that very game-book for a few days. I'm an avid game-book player (the Lone Wolf reprints being a particular favourite) as well as shmuper... That auction's a bit of a lethal cocktail for my bank account. Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to afford it as it might make for an interesting beginner translation project.
OT: Does it bug anyone else as much as me that there are a million RPG spin off films, cartoons, comics and toys but not a lot outside of OSTs for shmups? If there's a genre that could use other media to expand upon their game universes it ain't bloody bloated-dialogue-driven, story-based, character-filled RPGs that take part in a world that already unfolds before you during game play!
*takes deep breath and walks away from the brimming JRPG DVD shelf in shopping centre without any breakages...*
