Hi Guys,
I'm wondering if there's any way to go past the limits in the Trinitron service menu? This consumer set is brilliant but the image shift to the left side when using SCART is sometimes killing it. For games that offer the screen movement settings that's fine, but most PSX games do not - I have pushed it to 0 in the service menu, but i'm forced to scretch the screen horizontally in order for the thin black line on the right side to disappear. Is it possible to do inside the TV by a professional? Cheers!

Not all trinitrons the same. Not all service menus are the same.
What are you trying to connect on scart? Is the behavior the same for all scart devices?
What model trintron are you using? (Perhaps someone can advise if this is normal behavior for your model). I suspect it's not, which may suggest the underlying problem is due to a failing capacitor or ageing transformer - perhaps something a repair man can fix, but there's not many of those about and no guarantee you'll find the exact issue.
However, in general, it may be that there are other settings in the service menu, perhaps not well named that may be used to adjust the geometry into better position. Have you looked through all the other settings/sub menus? It may be that there's horizontal 'shift' option, but also an 'align' setting in addition, or some other such similar naming.
Beyond that, yes, depending on the model, some trinitrons do have adjustable internal pots that may adjust geometry etc., but these tend to be the exception rather than the rule. I suppose it's not impossible there might be a physical alignment issue, but normally you'd expect to be able to overscan [+adjustment] by such an amount that I expect something is wrong to either i) shift image when using scart or ii) be shifting the no matter what input is used, but that it only gets really intrusive when trying to use scart.

Re: Trinitron and SCART shift
I've always had this problem using Scart (with all switch boxes too) which is why if you're adamant on using scart switch boxes you really ought to stick to a BVM imo. With a BVM you can set the horizontal phase for each channel individually allowing to center the picture for all systems.
I've given up on scart because I just don't see any difference between that and component on a consumer set. I also barely see a difference between S-video and component on most consoles, and I'm quite ocd about picture quality.
