Finally got around to purchasing an AV Famicom, and would like to get it RGB modded. I'm sure I could handle the job myself but I'd prefer the end result look professional (my projects tend to be functional, but messy looking).
Is the controller-based palette swapping available on the AV Famicom?
Who are the best options for US-based modders?
Thank you all in advance.

I would PM voultar. He just did my master system RGB and killed it. He goes the extra mile to install quick connectors internally if need be for future molders too. You won't find that with other modders

depends on which country you are from.
yxkalle helped me and he was a true beast trying to get my failed installed working, then when I gave him new components to worked with fixed that. very nice and helpful in general.

I sent him a PM, it's still in my outbox though. We will see.Hoagtech wrote:I would PM voultar. He just did my master system RGB and killed it. He goes the extra mile to install quick connectors internally if need be for future molders too. You won't find that with other modders

It was a Master System II from what I recall.

Re: Advice on NESRGB modders?
Just acquired a Famicom "Hong Kong Version" from a friend. Console has a 50hz/60hz switch at the back (well 59.5hz to be exact) and also the 59.5hz is still with PAL colour encoding which is just bizzare
. It also has a mod for composite output. I am interested in having it modded for RGB at some point. Any modders willing to do this in mainland Europe and particularly the UK ? VideoGamePerfection.com doesn't seem to mention anything about Famicom/NES modding. Slight offtopic, does anyone know if this Hong Kong version is actually rare like I was told ?

Re: Advice on NESRGB modders?
Hong Kong version is not that rare. A few months back I had a customer give me one which he wanted modded to output composite here in Canada (it was his childhood system from HK)
I found it interesting that the HK importers at the time basically were importing standard famicom systems and replacing the power/AV board with a new custom one that basically has an NTSC to PAL conversion chip.
I ended disabling most of that crap and restoring NTSC. The only positive thing is the replacement power inverter is less noisy than standard famicom! No Jailbars in composite output!
You can easily convert it to RGB if you use Tim's replacement AV/power board instead of the HK custom.

Admittedly I couldn't find one for sale on ebay but I am not interested in its value after all.leonk wrote:Hong Kong version is not that rare. A few months back I had a customer give me one which he wanted modded to output composite here in Canada (it was his childhood system from HK)

So the normal Famicoms have jailbar issue on composite and the HK version doesn't ?
Where can I find more information about Tim's replacement AV/power board ?

The "Famicom-PA" board is detailed in the respective NESRGB installation page!werk91 wrote:Where can I find more information about Tim's replacement AV/power board ?
