Well, judging from what's on the screen in the picture where the kid is standing by the TV... I'd say it might have possibly been a joint attempt by Mattel Electronics and Sony to get the IntelliVision into Japan. If you look closely enough, you'll see Space Armada playing. Anyone that grew up 'tween 1978-1983 (I was 2 in '83 and already playing and hooking up game consoles) that played Mattel's console could probably recognize the game just from the Invaders-like image and iconic border.

thats an interesting piece of electronics. i wonder if it was similar to the sharp nes tv and did rgb for the built in console?

@CPC6128 Well, keep in mind Atari for a short time had consoles in Japan. Was just making a somewhat educated guess from the TV showing a screen of Space Armada for INTV.

They really push the idea of micro computers being hooked on the front. Maybe it's an RGB DIN plug on the front there? we can't really see it

Maybe it's just a composite plug though
