Replays simply never came to mind. It has nothing to do with budget.

As good as the game itself is, this is a pretty poor port. No replays, no practice modes, not even a restart option. Any new STG on home systems should come with these options by default.

Did they even know about that? I must remind that Pyramid only made Patapon rhythm games before Dariusburst and i know nothing about Chara-Ani.

as we all know, CS/Chronicle mode is supposed to double as the practice mode. Although considering how haphazard everything is placed it's a pretty bad practice mode, not to mention there's many bosses and stages that you can't reach easily due to not having their own dedicated stages.
There's no excuse for not having replays, the PSP version had it. There's no excuse for not having a restart option, because... there's just seriously no excuse. That takes like 5 minutes to add in lol

iirc, this port really did have a really small team/budget, at least as far as programmers goes. Something like 2-4 programmers or so. And it really feels like the port was super low budget. We've had a couple of pretty dumb glitches in CS mode already (that were patched out), pretty unbalanced difficulty curve, legacy warning sounds fade out for some reason, certain bosses can be really janky at some times in CS mode due to the lack of a second screen (mainly looking at the Ruler family), a lot of times I get songs not starting or starting really late (I think it's only ever Abyssal Withdrawal or the CS map theme, actually), and I've also had the bg not appear for a boss once.

Almost all the possible problems are related to CS mode.
So
yeah
no budget port

Cool, I knew about the Assault CFJ one and am stealing stuff from it already, but didn't know about the rest. Especially thankful for that 300M Assault replay.

I'd love to know where the extra 70 million for the CFJ WR come from.

Interesting videos! Thanks to both of you CHI and hdd60311.
I find it particularly fascinating to see how people manage to score with burst-less ships.

I also have this issue from time to time during the Claw fights, glad (in a way?) to see it wasn't just me.
There is also a very minor glitch I noticed while fighting Thorn Wheel. If I keep the fire button pressed during the boss intro cutscene, it seems to flash and take a bit of damage. I don't think it happens everywhere but I know I could trigger it in the Yaruhin mission with the preset ship. Did that happen to anyone else?

Yeah the Claw crabs' BGM will sometimes start during their death animation.

I have to say, the Zone Z music sends chills up my spine, especially when it plays in the "tunnel" stages.

I see.
It probably won't be fixed, then. That's far from a critical bug anyway, so it's alright.

You can't actually search this thread for it, so I'll ask here (search string is too small.) Someone asked before and never got an answer.

Where in Chronicle or CS modes can you fight G.T.B.?

And what is the trophy about making it self-destruct? Is it just a time-out thing? I can't really find any info anywhere on a self-destruct element to the bosses in this game.

Chronicle Mode, Bekuhoi (purple), dead center. Unlocked on Cabinet 0001, we (0011) didn't, yet.

Don't kill him, and after a few minutes, it'll spontaneously explode. Achievement get!
Probably every boss can self-destruct, but no one knew, or wants them to. Counterburst is the way to go.

Apparently, a concert will be held on march 5th showcasing the Dariusburst CS OST and Shohei Tsuchita works. CDs will be on sale too. It's a night event, 21-23hs.

I wonder if they'll broadcast it live... Doesn't seeml ike it but it's not the first time I watch Zuntata playing in a broadcast.

Going back to the topic, did anyone find where Massive Whip is? (CS mode or Chronicle mode?)

Every boss self destructs for obvious reasons. It's not hard to do accidentally if you misjudge your damage and find yourself trying to stretch the fight to the next counter burst.

Massive Whip is Chronicle-only AFAIK. There's an easy set on the first galaxy somewhere where he's the boss. I'll dig out the name later and update.

Thanks for the info, and I did find it there on the PC version, but I was looking for it on the PS4/Vita version, which has completely different worlds in Chronicle mode. Guess I'll have to just keep looking around and trying stages until I find it unless someone else knows where I could find it on the PS4/Vita version. Cabinet 0001 isn't even fully unlocked on PS4/Vita, but most worlds are at least at like 98% if not 100%.

This is true, it doesn't show up in CS mode, I just found it in Chronicle.

Well, there was indeed a Whip boss in the first planet on Cabinet 01, but that one was Blazes Whip. Damn, this Massive whip guy is elusive as hell.

I think I found a better way to learn how to counterburst. Basically, you need to get a feeling for when the "you got hit" sound plays when the enemy beam makes contact with your ship. I suspect the way the game works is that it checks whether you're in the burst wind-up phase. If you are, it counterbursts instead of playing the sound.

So if the wind-up phase overlaps with the moment the sound would normally play, you will counterburst instead.

Try to approach counterbursting this way and see whether this works better for you. In my case, I counterburst 100% of the time with this method.

The exact location for Massive Whip is Yabushi, Tuidaha (second ring, first planet). You fight Phantom Castle, then Massive Whip.

Thanks, I just found him and counterbursted his sorry ass, heh! That's one less boss. I guess I'm missing the Claw hidden in CS mode extra final mission.

I wish they could've put a menu or somewhere to look which bossese you've already counter-bursted and defeated that way. Would've been a nice goal to follow. Doing it blind sucks since there are 15 or so unique bosses plus variations for a total of many more.

This. And sometimes I'm not paying attention when I start the fight and I forget what the name of that particular variation I'm fighting is then forget to write it down later after I've counterburst killed it (I write them all in a list on my phone.) I'm wondering if I'll ever be able to counterburst kill Gigantic Bite, even with side counters. It's hard enough just to kill him in general at this point.

It also bugs me a lot that some of the Jaws and Wheels variants take a lot to trigger their bursts so you end up killing them faster. Or if you get too trigger happy with the Thousand something fishes you'll ruin your chance to let the fins form the burst cannon and all you'll get is the green FUCK YOU laser (come on, let's call it that way) in your face. (Wait, even worse, counterbursting ONLY to get killed by the FUCK YOU laser seconds later.) Still, I like how they go into Zodiac Core mode when you destroy all the fins.

I actually killed Gigantic Bite on CS Mode with a counterburst so I'm hoping never to fight him again outside of Bedon and the Extra Stage. But, seriously, whoever said that part of the budget port is right... Just a simple list of "You have faced these huge battleships approaching fast" wouldn't have killed anyone. Shame it's only now I'm pondering this but there was no chance in hell this could've been reported and implemented during beta. But if the devs are planning to pump more DLC and stuff, it would be nice to see it somewhere.

edit: oh, and maybe a DLC campaign with a new boss or two returning from the older games of the series. A Curious Chandelier here and Absolute Defender there... I don't want to fight Lightning Flamberge anymore.

So, holy crap, Hungry Gluttons! Bring along some friends if you like, last forever, and don't accept counterbursts! Um, OK! Whatever you like...
