Any hope that the best game journalist in the world can do justice to this game and counter-review Rajirugi for great justice?

Well, doesn't GamePro have a higher ad-to-content ratio than EGM? It would explain where they get their funding.professor ganson wrote:I'm really not sure how GamePro hangs on. It's so minimal in content. It literally takes me about 5 minutes to get through it-- and I'm a slow reader. Of course, they do know their shmups!

So I just got through the latest Famitsu. Radilgy got 6,6,6,5, not necessarily in that order.
I am still buying it though, mediocre or not. I need more DC games to fill up my shelves.
I hope no one cancels their pre-orders.
In other (OT) news, the new DS Super Mario Bros is unveiled, with lots of huge pics (you can see the pixels and everything), Dirge of Cerberus gets four 7s, which basically means the game sucks. AND they waited a week after the game was in the shops to tell everyone it's so-so (did I mention that a so-so from Famitsu means the game sucks?) The magazine has nothing else of interest. I am going back to shopping for a new Atomiswave. Fuck those tools.

Anyone who buys games on reviews has issues, especially if they're from that Randorama freak

I'm curious as to how Famitsu is viewed by some of our Japanese folks here. Are they reliable or are they just a "Japanese Gamepro" (as I heard one person say a few years ago on another forum)?
Anyways, they don't give very good reviews to Cave games either so why would they give props to Rajirugi? shrugs

Right now, Famitsu is my favorite game magazine. It would take a while to explain why that is so, however.
In brief, no they are not reliable. Their reviews and their scores suck as much as anyone else's. Really. They only occasionally get it right--but then again that is true of every other publication.
What sets them apart is that
1. They have the news first
2. Their coverage is comprehensive--no games fall through the cracks
3. Their magazine is beautiful (or, at least, prettier than any other magazine out there, and certainly prettier than all the god-awful Western websites)
4. They know their stuff, i.e. game data, who's who in the industry, etc. Most western game journalists are quite ignorant with regards to older games
So there you have it.

I think Play-Asia have a tendancy to break the "street date" when they ship games. If they receive their shipment of stock a day or two ahead of schedule (most likely directly from the distributor) then they just send it out. NCSX will receive their stock on the 16th (as in their distro shipment is no doubt in the air to them right now) and will ship it that same day... assuming the US northeast coast doesn't get hit by another snow storm.Kingbuzzo wrote:I thought it wasn't shipping till the 16th! damn, I just made my payments today at ncsx
edit: nvm, it doesn't ship till the 16th for me

I've got to side with Famitsu for this one, guys - this game is, unfortunately, pretty darn mediocre. I played it several times during my last Japan trip... I really dig the graphical style, but the gameplay does next to nothing for me. It feels haphazard and unpolished IMO.
Then again, my tastes are a bit strange - I dislike a lot of stuff other fans really seem to enjoy (Psikyo shooters, Battle Garegga, DDP DOJ). Take that as you will.
Still, all the time I was playing it, I could only think of how much I'd have rather been playing ESPGaluda II. Curse those 1CCers hogging the machines for 30-40 minutes at a time!

The new Super Mario DS does look cool indeed! IGN have some great movies up of Dirge of Cerberus; it looks awesome-a third-person shooter/RPG? Sign me up!icycalm wrote:So I just got through the latest Famitsu. Radilgy got 6,6,6,5, not necessarily in that order.

Kiken will be doing a Dreamcast Shooting Special and I saw Rajirugi on the list!

I find it interesting that NCSX claims that Europeans make up the majority of their customers-with it being in New York, you'd think it would be Americans.Kiken wrote:I think Play-Asia have a tendancy to break the "street date" when they ship games.
