DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I broke my rule not to move past a stage I haven't beaten yet because I didn't want to break my controller in half.
I'm not sure who thought it'd be a great idea to introduce Savage Ruler in a 14-stage sub-mission as the last boss.

Currently banging my head against that one. Also 'Yaruhin', which was looking easy until I reached its final boss. Was expecting something predictable and ubiquitous like Thousand Bullets, but will have to significantly raise my game (it's G.T.V.).

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I was stuck there for more than a month (I didn't play it the whole month, but still). Luckily, it's the very last difficulty spike. You've got about five more stages left, and they aren't terribly difficult. Except Suriaha, of course. That's a different story.Klatrymadon wrote:Currently banging my head against that one. Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
AxelMill : Yes, it's Dograce! I would have never thought it was in the original DariusBurst OST, due to it fortunately not playing in the main stages.
Bankoru's stage track itself is not that great, but not grating at all. All in all inoffensive and run-of-the-mill I would say.
Skykid : If you want to play the game on the Vita, CS mode is really where it is. I don't get why you kept AC mode for Vita play, given that it isn't optimal. From the few hours I have been able to play on it, it is not completely unplayable, but the burst jauge is very small (as is everything else of course) and there's additionnal slowdown sometimes. I remember zone X's turret ceiling/floor slowing the game down as well as the Thousand Knives fight when he fires those dozens of yellow needle shots behind him.
The Steam version is the best one anyway (second only to the awesome cab of course) so if you don't want to start the CS campaign again on your Vita, I would stick with the PC port.

Which cabinet, planet has ACEX U and Z area for practice? Need some practice on the stages themselves.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Too bad the Vita version doesn't have a remake of the original or SP instead of trying to fit a two screen game on a handheld.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
You also can't play multiplayer on the Vita version. Not that it matters to many, but I still wanna get together some friends for 4-player action at some point.
Of course, for the optimal experience, I still need one more controller and a second monitor.

Does physical Vita version cross save with digital PS4 version?

Yes, only Steam is out in the cold.brentsg wrote:Does physical Vita version cross save with digital PS4 version?
Yaruhin is the first wall I encountered in CS, and I'm determined to do it on preset. Pain in the ass. Every time I have a great run somehow I still manage to get snuffed out right at the end. I revisit it every now and then when I have a minute.Klatrymadon wrote:Also 'Yaruhin', which was looking easy until I reached its final boss. I have a worthy explanation for this. I had to review the game for Eurogamer.net and got the brief with a very tight deadline. I even called in sick to work. I had already rinsed the PSP DB and 1cc'd all of AC's routes in the local arcade - and written a feature all about it about a month prior. The only thing I needed to get to grips with was EX, which I dabbled with to get a feel for the difficulty differences and new boss types, and CS, which needed some attention to fully understand. After the article went out I just wanted to finish what I'd started and had a hard on for finding Azure Nightmare because the audio is so epic, so CS was where I killed a few bullet train journeys. Next thing you know the Vita version arrived and I only really had EX left to exhaust.M.Knight wrote:Skykid : If you want to play the game on the Vita, CS mode is really where it is. I really want to play EX on the biggest possible screen, so I'll he sticking to Steam. I imagine it actually makes the game more difficult trying to dodge on the Vita.

Skykid:
I'll take some snaps of the Vita L.E soon and upload them here. There are some interesting (if you're a nerd) differences between all three prints of the Darius Odyssey book that I'll document too.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Yeah, same here! I could do with a practice mode for G.T.V., because that's the only part I'm struggling with. I can get to him unscathed but the 'new' attacks he uses (compared to standard Great Thing) will take some learning.Skykid wrote:Every time I have a great run somehow I still manage to get snuffed out right at the end. That would be great. I'm not sure which print I have (2 possibly) but I know I picked it up from the Taito store.Rupert H wrote:With the caveat that only the Japanese PS4 version will link to the physical Vita version.Skykid wrote:Yes, only Steam is out in the cold.brentsg wrote:Does physical Vita version cross save with digital PS4 version?

If you own all three you're most certainly a hopeless nerd, but if you're shelling out for this LE you had better be (it's expensive!)

I didn't pay anywhere near £100 for the LE.
You definitely have the second print. The first print was exclusive to the original PSP Dariusburst DX Pack and the third print is exclusive to the DBCS Vita LE. The second print is the only one sold individually.

I remember there definitely being two. One is Tihai, where you play as Legend, and the other is like the second last mission, one where you play as Formula and it's like 12 levels plus bosses or something ridiculous like that. I haven't finished CS mode yet, so I'm not sure if there's any more. I have like 30 stages left and they're all the super long ones orzCptRansom wrote:There is definitely one CS substage with GTB. Anybody know what was included with the PS4 1.01 patch last night? Is it just the stuff that had already been patched on Steam?

Samsung is launching a pair of 32:9 displays that would be awesome for the Steam version of this game. They'll come in 41" and 49" sizes!

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I'm not much of a PC gamer, so I have to ask: is the game currently able to actually support such a monitor? I know they had to patch in 21:9 after the fact, so it'd be a pretty sad irony if they came out with these monitors, but the game was never patched to make use of them.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I'll make a run at the larger version, but mostly for work. As much as I love my 34" 21:9, that would really be nice. And I could see curved being good for that. Downside, my desk would have to lose a PS2, Xbox 360, Wii, and a 25" CRT to make room for it.boagman wrote:That's...that's a lot of dedication.Skykid wrote:Amazingly perfect! I thought the patch made my weapons weaker, I take longer to defeat bosses now. On the plus side, it fixed some of the dialogue, such as the ending, which says "Following the success of the mission, the Belsar ceased their invasion of humanity."
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Well we'll all have to wait for Fudoh's obligatory hardware review to find out before we all pounce. In the event it's a beautiful DBCS experience, mounting that screen to your wall is both space saving and legitimately cheaper than buying an arcade cab, and you get all the CS features and no screen spit down the middle. Sounds perfect.mamboFoxtrot wrote:I'm not much of a PC gamer, so I have to ask: is the game currently able to actually support such a monitor? Otherwise it would be great for working on. Sometimes I wish I could have four windows open side by side.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
As per request from Skykid. The DBCS LE.

All three of the Darius Odyssey books.
LEFT: First print, exclusive to the original PSP Darius Burst DX Pack
MIDDLE: Second print, available individually.
RIGHT: Third print, CA Ver. exclusive to the Vita Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours LE. Also available digitally with the Steam/PS4 versions.

Silver HOWK from the first print.

Nice clean listing of all of the mainline series' BGM by zone, exclusive to the first print.

The more comprehensive listing (minus the zones) from the second print.

The Darius Gaiden sketches from the first and second print.

Darius Gaiden in the third print, with added Hysteric Empress, Neon Light Illusion, etc. love.

Logos from the series exclusive to the third print.

Unused logos for DBCS exclusive to the third print.

Toldja it was nerdy.

Did Degica answered about low res/unable to zoom Artbook DLC problems?
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Yeah there are curved 21:9 too, but I think for desktop use the 41" and 49" 32:9 displays would pretty much have to be curved. My 34" starts to get some nasty IPS glow in the bottom corners just due to your angle of viewing. My current one is flat and I think I prefer that, but any larger and I would need some curve. Man, think of the beauty of racing games @ 32:9 / 49".. I'm sure Degica would need to have 32:9 support patched in, but despite the few number of users that would be doing that, surely they'd accommodate for the definitive Darius Burst experience.Skykid wrote:Well we'll all have to wait for Fudoh's obligatory hardware review to find out before we all pounce. I haven't had my 21:9 all that long, maybe a bit over a year. Still, I'd have a better chance of convincing my wife I need a new display than a DBCS cabinet.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
@ Rupert
Thanks for that, now I'm doubly happy that I didn't buy the LE!
I actually like the first print cover best, but there's zero incentive there for me to exchange or acquire additional prints. Smells like Taito milk to me, 3 prints of the same book with miniscule variations. The things they do to shmup fans eh?
But that's a nice comprehensive breakdown, appreciate it.
@brentsg yeah I didn't think about viewing angle loss on a flat screen that size, so curved makes sense. I have absolutely no idea how a curved screen would affect gaming in a shmup - I only know it would look fantastic with a slight wraparound. I'm just concerned dodging would be marginally difficult to judge depending on your location in the curve and those of the impending bullets.

Those playing with 2/3 screen in multimonitor setup, is there any noticeable problem (I mean different speed/lag/refresh) mixing analog-digital video outputs? Considering both are the same monitor (Nec EA23WMi in my setup)
Monitor 1-VGA / Monitor 2-HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Skykid : Oh, now that makes sense!
Out of all the new DBCS tracks I heard, Azure Nightmare's theme is by far my favorite so I defintely understand wanting to reach it.
Though that track seems more suited to a stage than to a boss.
Having the whole game on a tiny screen makes it indeed a bit harder to dodge the denser patterns, and to see some bullets as well. I already have issues recognizing the Gluttons' green-gray bullets on my laptop (especially with Second) so the Vita version must be worse in that regard. Being able to see the entire action on a small screen may have its advantages though, as you have a better global vision, but your laptop can provide that without the Vita version's drawbacks.
