Gunstar Heroes hommage game

Post by Edge »

The game I am talking about is "Rapid Reload" aka "Gunners Heaven".

Here, have a look at the game:

Many people haven't ever heard of it. Because it never had an US release and most of those who know it blame it for beeing a Gunstar Heroes rip off.

But I quite enjoyed this game, so I thought I open a thread.
Maybe some of you will also enjoy it. ;)

I have to admit it is not the greatest game ever made. Neither is it that mediocre what many write about it. At least in my opinion. :p
I really like the boss fights and the action in general is pretty good too. And I think it looks quite stylish and some of the music is catchy. However the game is far too easy. They should have made an arcade game out of this...

Still worth a try. :)

Yes, it's quite well-known around here. When I tried it, all I could do was to think about all the ways in which Gunstar was better, but the game certainly does have its fans.

Ah, wasn't sure in many other communities almost nobody knows this game.

I think it depends on if you have played Gunstar Heroes first. I have played Gunners Heaven first, so to me it feels kinda right the way it is.
This was the most exciting game at the Playstation & Sega Saturn release for me. *lol*

Today I see many weakpoints in this game too. But I still like it, it could have been done better offcourse. :)

Anyway, I can't say I'm a fan of it. Overrated yet underachieving clone IMO.

Wow, I remember seeing the reviews for this game when the playstation was launched and despite it getting lukewarm reviews, this was the game I most wanted to play on PSX.

I never got to play it though, it was released in Europe but only in small numbers!

When I saw this topic, I was expecting info about a PC freeware homage to Gunstar or even a DC fan game ala Beats of Rage.
