Hey guys, I was referred here from reddit, and I need help with this converter box (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MUN ... ge_o00_s00). I bought a cable on ebay that is supposed to be sync on luma, and I'm just getting black and white picture from it, with the converter only being able to switch between AV and HDMI.
I'd really like to get this to work, can you guys kindly point me to a cable that will work? I'm hoping I was just stupid and bought the wrong cable or that the description on ebay was misleading for the cable I have.

This is the cable I purchased!
Thanks for your help guys

If you get a b/w picture it means that your converter is trying to process composite video instead of RGB. This means that the blanking voltage present on pin 16 of the cable either isn't present or has the wrong rating.

Ah, I missed that about SCART when replying to the reddit post.. It looks like if the voltage on pin 16 is between 0 and 0.4 volts, the scaler is supposed to select composite, and if the voltage is between 1 and 3 volts, it should pick RGB.
You should measure the voltage on pin 16 with a multimeter to validate that the cable is doing the right thing. Pin 18 is the ground for pin 16. You can use the diagram here:

I'm not too savvy with this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying that this particular cable is just not working properly?

the voltage could be too high as well, depending on which pin was used as a source.and if the voltage is between 1 and 3 volts, it should pick RGB.
bpkcchiefs: what you can do is just open up the Scart header and check if pin 16 is connected and if so, where it's coming from and which components (resistor) are used.

So I cracked it open and it looks like it's connected to 4th pin on the left, which is from the diagram I used the 12v switch? I really have no idea what I'm looking at, I'm hoping the picture helps.
Edit: it's the small black wire going 4 pins over to the yellow wire if that makes what you're looking at more clear.
