My megardive 2 does smearing

Hi everyone !
I just bought a RGB cable and connected my japanese Megadrive 2 to my TV.
The result is great, but there is a serious smearing problem. I can see very clear color lignes, or light lignes during the game.
Do you know this issue ? Is that because my cable is from china ^^?

What kind of TV are you using? Can you describe the smearing a bit more concretly? Like - are they static, or do they appear during motion?

And what is the relation of the lines to other parts of the image? Is it colors on top of other colors?

Keep in mind, areas at the edge of the screen may show unusual colors, like blue or small areas with colored dots, which is entirely normal.

The smearing appears in static and movment (different type).
My tv is Sony LCD 46 inch.

Anything inbetween the console and TV? That reminds me of issues that occured for me when I used an XRGB 2 and moved the pic too far to the left or right.

Definitely not LCD smearing, it looks a bit like those color artifact things: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1844919

But it could also be cable/signal related, yes...

A couple guesses:

- loose signal pins in the cable, TV, or system. Try wiggling it gently maybe?
- possibly a wrong value capacitor somewhere in the plug, the white text looks to be too strong, bleeding over

My plasma monitor does this with component sources, but I thought that was just old plasma tech being weird. So the display could definitely be the problem right?

I don't think my Tv is the problem, as i never had similar problem with other sources. I tried an other cable, but same problem. I will try with an other megadrive !

Don't exclude possibilities you haven't tested. Of course using another MD will show if that particular unit is at fault, but if it still shows the same issue you'll need to test on another TV anyway.
