Choosing between two PVM's (2053MD / 20M7MDE)

Post by timbob »

Hello people!

I worked in a hospital for a few months and over there I found two perfectly fine PVM monitors they where about to throw away. (They where used for endoscopic procedures, but i try not to think too much about that ;) )

They are both 20". one being an 2053MD, the other an 20M7MDE. Both have almost identical casing.
here's a crappy picture...

Strange as this might sound, I'm not planning on keeping both huge screens in my small apartment... So, which one do I keep?
I'm mainly planning on using them for 8 and 16 bit machines (nintendo and sega) and playstation 1.

The main difference i can see at a quick glance.
20M7MDE has 100hz Double Scan. I'm not sure that's a pro or a con... the picture looks a lot sharper on composite so far..
20M7MDE has a weird green haze over the picture.. Any clues how that can be resolved?
20M7MDE has an internal fan. so, it's noisy.

I still have to get all the RGB cables etc. Not planning on modding my NES to RGB I think..

So the main question really is:
Can the green haze on the 20M7MDE be fixed, and if yes, will it have a better picture than the 2053MD? or is it not worth the trouble, and should I stick with the quiet and also great looking 2053MD...

^^
This...

Noisey one just not worth keeping for yourself unless it was the perfect one to begin with, and you could mod it without damaging it to be quieter.

Only now worth fixing (assuming it's not something easily fixed with a sensible colour adjust on a service menu) if you want to sell one for anything other than spare parts.

I see. I'll stick with the quiet one then :D
Any tips on fixing the colour of the other PVM? if I want to sell / give away to someone?
