Turtles plus Platinum
Turtles plus Platinum
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

This isn't Spider-Gwen.
I'm okay with Ninja Turtles, though. Let's hope it doesn't have RPG elements.

New trailer. How the hell is platinum making so many games at the same time?

Re: Turtles plus Platinum
It looks like a re-skinned Transformers. Was that any good by the way?
Re: Turtles plus Platinum
Their output is quite impressive, both quantitatively and qualitatively. It probably helps that the games they make are relatively similar, so the ramp-up time for a new project should be drastically reduced. I'm not referring to Scalebound, which seems like a different beast, but the progression from Kora to Transformers to Turtles seems almost iterative. They are certainly very familiar with character action games, so a lot of their experience in making Revengeance or Bayonetta probably carried over to subsequent projects very well. In a way, they are pulling off what ID Software should have pulled off in the FPS genre, instead of repeating the "when it's done" mantra.MOSQUITO FIGHTER wrote:New trailer. Re: Turtles plus Platinum
It's a decent (but shallow) action game with some godawful RPG elements that do their best to ruin it. Each character levels up as you play, and enemies drop random loot that has to be upgraded, or else they'll become tedious damage sponges on the higher difficulties. Better than Korra and MadWorld as far as Platinum goes, but that's about it imo.Sly Cherry Chunks wrote:It looks like a re-skinned Transformers. Was that any good by the way?

Re: Turtles plus Platinum
Would be cool if this was based on the first live action movie, with same voice actors.

Most people seemed to like it more than me, to be fair. I'd still say it's worth a rental, especially if you're a Transformers fan (I'm not).
Re: Turtles plus Platinum
60 bucks? you can already pick this game up for £15 new, even less for a used copy........ and games are cheaper in the u.s
and icono..... who the hell rents games these days? I mean companies more than individuals here......(but still, I don't know any people who rent games either)?!?!

I had issues with it. It only had about 3 environments.iconoclast wrote:Most people seemed to like it more than me, to be fair. I'd still say it's worth a rental, especially if you're a Transformers fan (I'm not).
Activision really rush them. I'm kind of mad, that they keep getting them to make games for them. I know Platinum need to pay the bills, but still.

I don't know about the UK, but Gamefly is pretty good for Americans. Last year I paid $15 to rent two games at a time for two months. It's a good way to play games that look interesting, but don't seem worth buying.Immryr wrote:and icono..... who the hell rents games these days? Re: Turtles plus Platinum
I really enjoyed Transformers. Didn't find the RPG levelling to get in the way, but it didn't need to be there because I largely forgot it was there. Likewise weapon synthesis wasn't really necessary but I didn't find it too tedious. There wasn't much point to elemental statuses either.
It's better if you're a fan though, because there are plenty of fun references and it hints the events of the movie are around the corner. Outside of that, the boss fights were mostly great if unbalanced (Shockwave and Soundwave are really easy) and the core gameplay was a lot more varied than I expected. But it needed more time to improve the general balance, add a couple more environments and preferably add in more Decepticons - you get Menasor and Motormaster but none of the other individual Stunticons.
