Will ps2 import shmups play on ps4!?..

I'm just about to buy an ps4 for the upcoming release of street fighter v. I just read that the ps4 is region free AND backwards compatible. Does this mean I can play ibara and mushi on ps4 because if so I'm excited!!. I will also,get thunderforce and gradius. Anyone know!?..

You misunderstand. The backwards compatibility is limited to what Sony puts out digitally. You can't put in a PS2 disc into the PS4 and expect it to play.

The PS4 is region free however. It's up to game developers to enforce region locks if they so desire.

And even then, it does't apply to PS2 games that have previously been released on PSN, only games released specifically for the PS4.

I thought it was too good to be true. I dont know what posessed me to get rid of my mAtrix infinity ps2. I think it was because i decided to ay 360 cave ports only but damn there are some nice games on ps2. Thanks for clearing that up anyway.
