B1 Mode on XRGB3 blank on BenQ Monitor
I went ahead and got the XRGB3 hoping it would work in B1 mode on my RL2460HT. Upgraded all the firmware. Works fine in B0 (although it does ripple with the NES). But using composite or s-video in B1 mode just comes up with a blank screen, and yes I am using a VGA cable. Tried all the resolutions with no success. I don't have a JP21 Scart cable, so I'm stuck for now with composite and S-Video. I need to use B1 because of the significant drop in lag.
Any ideas on how to correct this issue?
Thanks for the help in advance.

You could try an Extron Interface, but it may just be that it's not compatible.

Still weird. You have confirmed that a B1 FW is properly installed by running the XRGB on another display ?

IIRC in rare occurences turning V-Sync on or off, or inverting the vertical sync polarity ? (just saying random things)

Re: B1 Mode on XRGB3 blank on BenQ Monitor
I tested it on my ASUS VS247H-P in B1 mode using an SNES and s-video and composite and it worked properly, although there is quite a bit of noise in the top quarter of the monitor and using composite changes the blue to green.Fudoh wrote:Still weird. I wonder what could be the difference between the ASUS and BenQ.

I've found that an Extron interface with a "Buffered Monitor" output is invaluable to my XRGB3 setup. It allows for an unprocessed signal on a second display, so you can troubleshoot connectivity issues without constantly switching cables.

Re: B1 Mode on XRGB3 blank on BenQ Monitor
Got the B1 mode figured out. I had the display size originally set to 1:1. I changed the setting to aspect and it now works in B1 mode. The only issue I'm seeing is slight rippling at the top.
Any ideas why it ripples?

Do you mean that it "waves" back and forth or is it just a static bend? If it's just bent a bit at the top, try adjusting the AFC setting.

It's an 201Rxi. I picked this model for H and V adjustment.

Well I bought a 201Rxi. Tried it today. Still a blank screen. Are there any special settings with the 201Rxi I should know about?SGGG2 wrote:It's an 201Rxi. I picked this model for H and V adjustment.

The only thing I've gotten to work is an Extron Lancia xi, but the black levels are horrible. It's a gray mess.

Try enabling ADSP, use the buffered output on your "good" display so you can play with the XRGB's settings.

Yeah, still no luck. Am I missing a setting on the XRGB?SGGG2 wrote:Try enabling ADSP, use the buffered output on your "good" display so you can play with the XRGB's settings.

V Sync, H and V polarity and resolution settings are your best bets.

Yeah, I've tried all those things. Sadly, I think I'm going to have to give up on the XRGB-3. Surely there's a way to hook up an S-Video Atari to an LCDSGGG2 wrote:V Sync, H and V polarity and resolution settings are your best bets.

Re: B1 Mode on XRGB3 blank on BenQ Monitor
Sorry to hear about your troubles with the BenQ monitor.
For years I have been unable to use the XRGB-3 in B1 with my Sony HDTV (older set ~2006). Last night, I finally was able to get it to work. I had to use inverted polarity on H, inverted polarity on V, Vsync off, and resolution 640x480 (not sure if this one matters). In case you haven't tried that combination, maybe it's worth a shot.

Yeah I had it set to Low Pass Filter on, H & V polarity inverted, 480, vsync off.jepjepjep wrote:Sorry to hear about your troubles with the BenQ monitor.

No luck. There's got to be a way. I've tried the Lancia and I guess it works well enough, but its so washed out and the blacks are terrible.

Re: B1 Mode on XRGB3 blank on BenQ Monitor
none. Sony YR-1000 for a single input system and a YR-3000 for a bigger unit. I just know the european models though - don't know if there are American ones. How much lag do the integrators cause? What model is the Sony?
For s-video to component you'd be looking for a SVSI or CVSI-1 by Entech.
I'm sure there are others as well.
But honestly: if a Atari 7800 is your only s-video source, isn't the XRGB-3 in B0 good enough for that ? How many hours do spend with your 7800 ?

Would the integrators be much different than the Extron CD 900? I've got one one of those and running it through the XRGB-3 doesn't work either.Fudoh wrote:none. I mean I play alot of 2600 and 7800 games, so it'd be nice to have B1 mode.

Re: B1 Mode on XRGB3 blank on BenQ Monitor
I have no experience with the Extron CD 900, but it looks to do the job. S-video to RGB or component is a trivial conversion. It will usually just look as good as s-video. Composite to component or RGB is much more difficult and requires a good comb filter on top.
Again sorry to hear about the troubles with the XRGB on the BenQ, but with the Extron on hand I would definitely recommend to get the OSSC. It will work on your BenQ, does everything the XRGB-3 does and with the Extron you can connect your s-video sources.
If you don't want to wait for the OSSC or keep get XRGB working in the meantime, just grab a cheap VGA to HDMI converter ($25-30) and connect your XRGB through that. These don't add lag either and quality's usually 1:1 as if connected directly through VGA.

Re: B1 Mode on XRGB3 blank on BenQ Monitor
Just wanted to give an update. After trying everything pretty much in the book, iScans (V2 and HD+), Extrons (RGB, converters, transcoders, line doublers), Faroudja line doublers, and the XRGB-3, I finally got an XRGB-2 Plus and it is amazing. Why did they stop making these?Fudoh wrote:I have no experience with the Extron CD 900, but it looks to do the job. S-video to RGB or component is a trivial conversion. Anyways, I've tried it with my modded Atari 7800 on my BenQ and its perfect. There's still a little waviness at the very top with my composite NES, but its never in the way.\
Thanks for the help!
