Tough decision, but I think I'll use my savings to buy a PCB.

Keeping it real, I don't care about folks who get their kicks from lolis; whatever floats your boat. But I would like them to have less of a continuing presence in Shmups and Japanese media generally.

I do not mind cute anime art design in my games (not just STGs), as well eye-candies males and females (older games did this). But if they have to use one of the two, or both, in shameful ways like cute things engaged in sexual innuendos, then no wonder why people (even the not prudish ones) have difficulties to approach anime (through a mainstream circuit) without the danger of encounter this bullcrap that is fucking up the industry over Japan in these decades.

Granted, in regard of STG, there could be only automated flying ships or everything which doesn't looks human at all without a single once of story at all, but if some developers want to make a story with characters for the game or standing out more from big titles such as Raiden, using anime moe aesthetic is the cheapest way to go for most of the developers withouth focusing too much on story department (as it should be).
Some of them only use the trendy aesthetic as an excuse for something deeper (and is not the hole), or doing it using a different style altogheter with weird alien creatures or animals (Starfox is an engregious example).

Bottom line, anime art and characters are fine (even underage), as long they do not go over the line of mere "eye-candy" to "shameful-erotic-service-withouth-a-damned-contest".
This works for every damn producer from Japan and the places around the country like China, Korea, whatever.

I would just like to note how refreshing this thread has been. Not much cell invested. I'm also kind of surprised that people are kicking around "Japan is in moral crisis" with such fervor, when just some basic understanding of how demographic holes develop would put that one to rest. Any stable, developed economy is going to see a reduction in its birth rate, and only countries with huge immigrant flows is going to avoid that problem. Japan is simply ahead of the curve here.

I'm mad when new STG games with crappy fanservice characters don't have a trap or a gender bender god(dess).

Ibara is the greatest STG ever made. Yagawa is god. The art direction and steampunk designs are beautiful. Even the character designs are great.

i will say though, after the boss I really don't need a close up panty / camel toe picture all zoomed up on the screen. Just no.

Yeah; i don't mind them as official artwork or as unlockable gallery, but "as reward for killing boss" during gameplay eh... I was a bit embarassed when showing Ibara to my friends.

All of this also reminds me how people disqualify Dead or Alive 5 while currently it's one of best fighting mechanics here, but thanks to bikini dlc and other oversexualization people dont see that.

The one you're referring is probably some elaborate trolling BUT:
1) Almost everything else in the video is actually genuine.
2) This is sadly the reality of plenty of weebs, you don't have to take my word for it, just go to an anime convention. I dare you to stay more than 15 minutes and to not die of embarrassment.

I consider myself quiet a comic/manga/anime nerd, been all my life, there are so much quality shit out there. But those people are so repulsive, I almost never say I have those interests, or if I want to talk about a great manga to a friend, I just say "japanese comics". Yes it's that bad.

So now, Imagine this kind of human garbage, born in Japan, raised in the Japanese culture with all the cultural differences it implies about how those people fit into society, and how sexuality is quiet different than in the west. Then take into consideration how those two factors means that these people will never ever ever ever ever ever get laid and procreate, and how just a tiny fraction of them will gather the courage to actually pay for sex.
Then imagine an entire industry dedicated to them, an industry that used to produce a lot of quality content, but that eventually realized that instead of producing quality works, they could just pander to their sexual frustration and unrealistic views of women.

There, you have your answer why moe loli incest garbage is everywhere.

My parents raised me better then that. Or at least, certainly better then that.

My teenage idiocy was just being easily trolled on the internet.

Few people had the internet at home when I was 15-17, pr0n was still essentially VHS and shoplifted magazines, every new acquisition was like a trophy.
The only bits of Japanese anime pr0n we could see were shit copies of La Blue Girl and Urotsukidoji. Loli/moe crap was still quite niche and honestly I don't believe there was demand for it.
Good times. :P

Then the internet happened... (we can say that for lots of things actually)

When I was 17 I had a job and a girlfriend, a lot of sex and a lot of alcohol. I did some stupid stuff but I never acted like a retard.

Some of these weebs are borderline certifiable. This thing at 22:05 seems like a gender neutral mental patient broadcasting from the ward.

I don't encounter many cute girls doing cute things in my shumps, tbh. Not out of any anti-moe convictions... I suppose it's due to spending most of my time in the 1985-2000 bracket. I do gravitate to harder, earthier aesthetics but Kiki Kaikai and Twinkle Tale are great shooters, end of story. I picked up a few of the more acclaimed Touhous after being impressed by their best players on here, and from what little I've played they've never seemed very far out of that Strawberry Shortcake orbit. I'm sure the fanbase is gut-wrenchingly cringey but that goes for 90% of humanity and I ignore it likewise.

Aww.

What I dislike is pandering, no matter the object. Contra 4's "manly 80s XFD" nostalgising turns me off nearly as much as the pedo-bait character in Deathsmiles II. I own both of those games. :[
