Just curious, when they push a shmup arcade cab out of the factory do they always install a seimitsu?
If so, has this always been the case, even going back to the 80's and early 90's?
I guess it is up to the arcade operator once the cab gets worn out.
Do shmups in arcades always use Seimitsu?

Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Re: Do shmups in arcades always use Seimitsu?
Not like there's much arcades in activity in my country, but I've alway felt they were putting in whatever they had in stock or cheap, even already much used/almost unuseable parts be it Japanese or US style.
Dunno in Japan, guess it's the same only with jp-only brands and renewed more often.
PS: now maybe specifically with cabs almost exclusively used by shmuppers in big arcades, the operator would have talked with them and be mindful of which parts they like most. guys in japan tell us.

Something's kept Sanwa and (Suzo-)Happ in business all these years.
Not to mention, I'm pretty sure Taito/Namco had pretty sizable manufacturing arms in their early days, too, making their own cabinets. That might not include the joystick of course (and I might not be spouting correct information at all...if somebody knows please correct me).

there was no dedicated panels for shmups
the panel was the same as for fighting and platform game.
part depend on an agreement with another supplier...
not the player preferences
and seimitsu made a good, simple universal joysticks
and none can be considered as dedicated to anything - all is "only" universal joysticks
in theory, none of them meet the requirements for shmups
