Alpha 3

Post by Neon »

Cleared the game on Expert difficulty with A-ism Sakura. I'm still shaking like a crack addict.

Image

My God what a rush. The game may be broken as hell and only good for single player (even then a lot of the AI is poor) but (and this is the point of the post, not to increase my e-penis...well some ;) )absolutely nothing beats the fun you can have with a title you've put hundreds of hours into.

The real trick now is beating Bison undefeated...the rank goes through the roof like a motherfuck if you beat him the first time.

Good job I suck at Alpha3 it felt like an acomplishment when I beat normal with continues. I,ve had that shaking feeling before too, I play Capcom VS SNK2 on the hardest difficulty and every time a fight comes down to the last fighter on each team I,m jiggling like a paint shaker it,s probaly just good old fashioned adrenline, a full dump baby! (for the unenciated an adrenline dump is when all your adrenline is used up at once)

Nice work. The last serious 1-player fighter experiences I had were 1CC'ing ST (against Akuma), SS2, and FF3, which was almost a decade ago.

Difficulty settings...I couldn't care less about; it's all about default for me just as with shooters unless harder difficulties have additional stuff, which the SFII series always did.

That's not bad. I don't think there's any change in the rank if you continue.

Yeah, that's the thing. ST is the better game but I haven't spent as much time on it, as such it just doesn't have the same feel as a good round of A3 to me.

I'm not sure whether the higher difficulty makes a difference, myself. I haven't directly compared beating Bison on 8 or 5 but it seems the rank maxes out if you beat him once either way.

1CCing ST is an achievement, even on the ps/ss ports, good work. I need to look that up on MARP and see it done.

Hmmmm I prefer SFA2 over #1, although I think 3 is the best in the series. I still think Street Fighter III : Third Strike is more fun though.

I can't enjoy Alpha 3 because of the music. I mean, Alpha 2 has the greatest SF OST ever, while Alpha 3 the worst one. My ears bleed.

Congrats Neon! Just beating that game, one way or another, is a job well done AFAIC. SF Alpha 3 is definetly one of the hardest fighters I've ever played. And you did it with Sakura?!!! Someone pinch me.

Odd you mention that, because I had nearly done that last night. FF3, still one of the best fighters on any system...the music is flawless, absolutely flawless.

I have to buy the MVS version soon, though, because this pre-1MB Saturn port is killing me.

SFA3 kills. I've beaten it with several characters without continuing, and yes, it increases your score a lot. Maybe one of these days I'll post my 1CC scores...

Well, I wouldn't go that far but it's like the crossing point between original FF and Real Bout that was very easily overlooked. Great game at the time but unfortunately not one of my faves nowadays.

For realz. Nash >>>>>>> All. A/Xism Akuma has his stupid 'OMG take off half your hp' move. Rolento is way too strong and fast. I can beat all of them vs. CPU, but in a tournament even a player with far less skill than I have should be able to crush me with one of them. Zangief isn't a walk in the park either.

Check out some match videos, with v-ism you can do all kinds of stupid infinite moves. Game is broken. Play Super Turbo.

So the game's not suitable for tournament level play. Big whoop. People who enjoy fighting games can still enjoy it in versus mode.

Just because some of the characters have exploits doesn't mean that everyone's going to know how to use them. I still don't think the game's really 'broken'.
You're arguing for a universe with fewer waffles in it. I'm prepared to call that cowardice.

Last time I checked, Sakura was either top-tier or second-tier in A3... V-Sakura, anyway.

I prefer A2 to A3... A3 feels "mushy" and un-SF-like somehow.

A/X-ism anything isn't good in this game, other than A-Sim. V-Akuma, V-Sakura, A-Dhalsim, and V-Zangief are the tops. I mean no game is balanced, I could complain just the same about Super Turbo O. Sagat, Dhalsim, Bison, Balrog, or Vega.

3rd Strike is a great game, yeah. Vampire Savior is deep and fast, esp. on Saturn with the extra turbo levels, love that as well.

A2 I'd regard as better, yeah, although still having some of the same balance problems. Mushy = the juggling maybe? Zero 2 Alpha/Alpha 2 Gold is more balanced and I like only having to press the top 2 buttons to get custom combos.
I mean no game is balanced [everyone else's comments about balance]
Good point, A3 is still fun but if I were to go back in time, I'd put all those hours into something more balanced. 3rd strike isn't perfect either but there's less distance between god/bottom tier and the AI is programmed so that you can practice against anyone with the CPU.

My two favorites. I like them Last Blades pretty well but those two Capcom ones are the bomb!

I prefer Vampire Hunter over Savior. Slower and much less focus on air juggling.

Every fighting game I ever played was put on hardest difficulty.
Otherwise it's fun.
And I am not a pro tourny wannabe or something
Beating the world tour with Shin Gouki was pretty rough.
The final battle is against two bisons and one Gouki (if I am not mistakken), that was rough. Not on one credit though....
