Jikkyou Osyaberi hands down. Its just an all around better game (probably the apex of the series imo.) Sexy has weird objective based stages that are definitely unorthodox for a shooter. Overall they are both worth owning but your first choice is an easy one in my eyes.

I'd go for Oshaberi first as well, but Jon is right in that they're both worth owning.

I just seem to go back to Oshaberi a lot more, probably 'cause it's easier

I just got Sexy and I like it quite a bit. I've only played Jikkyou Oshaberi on ZSNES, but judging from that, I'd say I like them about the same. Maybe a slight edge to JO.

From what I've played of both, Oshaberi is more fun for me. Sexy is still a joy to play, but the missions can be a chore to deal with. The character selection can't be beat in Oshaberi, either, although I'm not sure if there are more characters in the Saturn version (I've only played the SNES version myself)

Definitely look into both, but go with Oshaberi first. (Broken record :-p)

From what I read, the Saturn Chatting Parodius has an extra stage not in other versions and the PSX version has an omake mode with levels made up of polygonal enemies.

SS/PS Oshaberi has two extra characters over the SFC game, but you have to play through and earn them.

Saturn has "Extra Mode" which throws extra enemies in certain places, and adds a sneaky attack to a boss or two (Decoration Core springs to mind, heh..)

Playstation version has "Accident Mode" instead, where you get short omake stages in-between certain game stages, with polygon graphics. There is a code to just play these stages as well, but it's not a full omake mode as such.

Yeah, I've gotta go with Oshaberi as well. Fulfilling the challenges for each stage in Sexy Parodius to get the best path is an annoying chore.

I dunno...I think most of you are missing the "point" of why one would prefer SEXY Parodius over other Parodius games...

Sexy gets my vote, because the last boss is so hard to play against.

...forget the hard part. LOL

BTW can anyone here translate the cinematics/dialogue in Sexy Parodius? They look frickin hilarious, but I'm sure they'll be even funnier if I can understand them.

So what's the premise of the game? What was going on in the opening intro?

I believe that the story is something along the lines of Takosuke (the octopus) gathering up a bunch of the other Parodius chars to start some wonky kind of a "for hire" business (of course, he really only wants to make money to get himself a bunch of women). At the beginning of each level someone comes in and asks you to do something in the next level (the "mission" for the stage), and depending on whether you succeed at it or not determines what your next mission will be. I know I once saw a rough "compendium" of what each client was asking someplace, but I forget where...

If I had to choose ONE Parodius Game, it would be Goukujyou.

But between Sexy and Jikkyo Oshaberi... I have Sexy for sometime now, and I just got JO.. and I would stick with JO .

The mission gameplay on Sexy makes it really irritating sometimes..
