There is no standard inventory management on the tablet. The only thing you can do is use fast travel from it and change the types of mining probes. All other management is done on the TV.

I really liked the Wii U's stand-out games but it's really difficult to reccomend since last E3's meh-o-rama. It's clear the Wii U is on life support, and they're pulling the plug as soon as the NX is released. The Wii U Zelda game is likely going to look like crap compared to the inevitable NX version ..

If you want to buy a Wii U, wait until the NX is announced and the inevitable price drop happens. Unfortunately, the games will likely never go down in price beyond $10-$20, because Nintendo. D:

I'm hoping Star Fox is good, but yeah, the Wii U was a total non-entity for me this year.

I'm still fairly happy with the system, though. I bought it almost entirely because of Bayonetta 2 & The Wonderful 101, but I was surprised by how good Nintendo's games were too (given the fact that I didn't like anything they made on the Wii). I knew what I was getting into, so the total lack of games doesn't bother me.

If you're unlucky, the games will go out of print, leaving you at the mercy of scalpers.

I sold my PS4 after getting a Wii U since the games were just so much more appealing to me. In terms of console exclusive games, it is far beyond Xbone and PS4. Of course, it all depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you like to burn through one "AAA" game campaign after another, then you're better off with M$ or Sony, or a PC, but if you like to sink your teeth into a game that puts up a pretty good challenge, and prefer skill-based games over cinematic experiences, then Wii U is where it's at. I think Nintendo still makes any other developer look like amateurs.

^^^Yeah

Exclusives I'm interested in on PS4:

Bloodborne
Nier Automata
Assault Suit Leynos

Exclusives I'm interested in on Xbone:

...Scale...bound?
uhhhh...

Exclusives I'm interested in on Wii U:

Bayonetta 2
Wonderful 101
Smash 4
Pikmin 3
Splatoon
Super Mario Maker
Fatal Frame 5
Xenoblade X
Starfox Zero

TBH none of the current gen consoles are good, but Wii U is the best of them IMO.

Virtually all games published by Nintendo retain their value. This one in particular is already going for more than its MSRP on ebay, so if you get it for MSRP, then just buy it, and sell it again if you don't like it. Personally, I buy every Nintendo game I have at least a slight interest in, which is by no means an excessive number. In the worst case, i.e. if I don't think I'll have time to play it, or it turns out I don't like it, I sell it for more or less the same price I paid for it. I prefer this over having to pay a markup to a scalper via ebay. The only game I missed out on Wii U this way was Super Luigi U, which I ended up paying slightly above the original MSRP for a used copy.

Yes, it's quite rare. It was sold at retail for a limited time, which was before I got the Wii U. I wasn't aware that Nintendo wouldn't reprint it, and when I wanted to buy it, I only found scalpers on ebay, charging up to 2 x MSRP, and used copies. Nintendo released the New Super Mario U + Luigi U bundle pack as a stand alone in the US this autumn, actually, but not (yet?) in Europe, so that one wasn't available for a good price either. You'll find the bundle version on ebay, of course, but the few auctions I saw were closing at a higher price than copies of Super Luigi U.

Which games do you already own?

IMO, a very good and varied core library would be:
- 2D platforming: New Super Mario Bros. U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
- 3D platforming: Super Mario 3D World
- puzzle: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (it's actually a spin-off of SM3DW)
- online: Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros., depending on which genre you like
- Action: Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101
- RPG: Xenoblade Chronicles X
- Strategy: Pikmin 3

Note that all those games are exclusive to the Wii U.

Some remarks:
Super Mario 3D World alone justifies getting this console. Further, I really enjoy Donkey Kong: TF, so much that I in fact I gave DK: Returns for the 3DS another chance and bought it again. Splatoon really took me by surprise. I am not at all a fan of online games, and felt pretty burned out by shooters (used to play through several campaigns of "AAA" games), but Nintendo's take on the genre is really refreshing and amazingly fun to play.

Is there a hidden gem on the eShop, maybe?

This Zelda: Twilight Princess HD amiibo stuff sounds incredibly awful. Want enemies to do twice as much damage? Buy the Ganon amiibo. Want a new dungeon? Buy the Wolf Link amiibo. Want to instantly restore your health? Buy the Zelda or Sheik amiibos. Want to instantly replenish your arrows? Buy the Link or Toon Link amiibos.

Nintendo's doing a great job if they're trying to reach new lows with DLC.
(Granted, the last two functions are basically worthless cheats, but the first two could easily make the game more enjoyable.)

Yhaa I really wish all the best features of the HD re-release didn't tie them to Amiibos. Its bad already that Nintendo is asking full price for a game they already developed and released twice years ago. Small bit of new content shouldn't cost a premium.

I think it already comes with a proper hard mode, but you have to use the Ganon amiibo if you want to make enemies do twice as much damage on top of that.

Personally, I'm not that interested in Zelda. Stuff like this just sets a really bad precedent for the future imo.

They keep making Amiibo shit because people keep buying them. It seems they've found a way to make money and they're sticking with it ..

I don't own a single one, because I'm not too thrilled about littering my room with overpriced plastic crap that adds tiny content bonuses to games I already paid $60-$70 for ..

Seems Nintendo's core fanbase just eats that shit up, though.

I'm more skeptical because Twilight Princess HD was handed to Tantalus instead of the developer that did Wind Waker HD.

I read that Hexadrive did it, despite what Wikiapedia says on the Wind Waker HD page.

edit: Nintendo did the development, but Hexadrive was responsible for the conversion to HD. Hmm. Looking at the credits, it's hard to tell Hexadrive's exact involvment. Some staff members involved with textures for SSB, Pokemon X/Y, Wind Waker HD, and one of Konami's PES games are listed under some of the HD credits and the credits for upconversion or something along those lines are former Capcom staff.

Not exactly on topic, but man, Nintendo fanboys are the worst. They just deny reality.

I mean, they will argue that 2016 has a big line up, and the Wii U is known for it's online gaming. A FEW games, do not make these things true.

Then again, if they've only been playing Nintendo consoles, since say, about the Nintendo 64...they're probably used to small libraries.

I haven't read anyone claim that 2016 has a great lineup for the Wii U. However, I do see a lot of value in quality over quantity. The Wii U library has, IMO, more stand-out titles than the competing consoles. It depends of course on your priorities in life, but one or two games to really sink your teeth into (as opposed to playing through "AAA" crap once and moving on) are enough to fill a year's worth of gaming time. In that regard, one of Xenoblade Chronicles X, Splatoon, or the upcoming Zelda could conceivably be all a relatively busy "gamer" would need to make it through 2016.

Have they? Because from where I'm standing, it seems like Nintendo has simply stayed the course while the rest of the industry has gotten worse.

Like seriously, I got a PS4 for Christmas, and I have nothing to play on it besides Bloodborne. And nothing on the horizon except Nier Automata. PS4/Xbone are maybe passable only if you don't mind playing indie games that you can get easier/cheaper on PC, otherwise it's a friggin graveyard.

Say what you want about Wii U 2016, but I don't see anything better on PS4 or Xbones table. Ps 2 and 3 would be my pick for "best consoles, start to finish" last two generations, but this one it's definitely reversed course. Wii U at least has already given me a sizable line of up games which I genuinely enjoy and can't get anywhere else. Ps4 and Xbone still have one game each.

I own both and I have to say the Wii U does have a very slim library and the online features and multiplayer games are just absolutely horrible.

Nintendo's implementation of online features is just bad. Its really annoying to navigate and invite friends to game sessions via the Wii U or even the 3DS. PSN and Xbox live does online very well.... we have party chat easy invite to games.. easier online shopping you name it the online is just better on those two platforms.

I didn't buy my Wii U for online or online multiplayer..... that's what my PS4 is for. I pretty much bought it for the Nintendo games like Mario, Zelda and Smash Bros... I think that's pretty much it!

Everything else from FPS games to Racing even RPGs pretty much PS4 or another console I own.

I mean damn the last Multiplayer game I bought was Devils Third and that games' online is absolutely horrible. The single player session wasn't bad but the only reason why I bought it was because there was NOTHING else available on my Wii U. If this was on any other console I would have passed on the purchase but I wanted to show support and ended up buying it.... hilarious how the game is going for double the price seeing how it was a limited available btw lol.

On the horizon for Wii U I only have like 2 games on my list which is Pokken and Star Fox Zero.... 3 if the new Zelda game gets released this year but for some reason I have doubts it'll even show up in 2016. It would be nice to see a new Metriod, Wave Race or F Zero game but I don't think Nintendo will be making any of those anytime soon.

The PS4 I could name a ton of games I'd like to pick up both single player and multiplayer.

But anyways not hating on Nintendo but I'm just saying they really need to get with the times. If they ever manage to offer good hardware and good online then I wouldn't need to own both a PS4 and a Wii U.

We must have very different tastes, because there's pretty much nothing that interests me on PS4. Although the mention of FPS kind of reinforces that (modern console FPS ewwww, etc.) and I tend to be very discriminating with what rpg's I play.

I'd be curious what you're playing on ps4 at any rate, though. I've seen other peoples lists and they always tend to be composed of Cod's and Movie games that read as "meh, meh, meh, already on pc,meh, meh, already on pc,meh, etc." to me.
