RGB cables from Solaris

Post by jugu »

Received an email from Solaris offering 3 new pro-quality cables for:
PlayStation https://solarisjapan.com/collections/pr ... laystation

Super Famicom - https://solarisjapan.com/products/pro-r ... er-famicom

Saturn - https://solarisjapan.com/products/pro-r ... ega-saturn

$30 USD seems a bit much to me.

On paper, do these look superior to cables from Retro Gaming Cables?

Apologies if this has already been discussed before. Looked new to me.

They appear to have molded connectors on the console side which is a plus. They are JP21 only though.

I think the big difference here seems to be the fact that they use a custom pcb for all the scart components. The eBay seller just hand solders everything in place having components hang in the air.

Depends on where you buy your cables. There are also modders who use these little SCART triangle PCBs.

No good to anyone outside of Japan really since they're JP-21 only. Not sure why Solaris send out emails to people outside of Japan....

I think they targeted XRGB users with their emails and since all XRGBs come with JP21 inputs (or included adapters), it's a safe guess that all of them could (theoretically) make use of these cables.
