Post by nsonthi77@hotmail.com »

In no particular order, what are your top 10 ten non-shmups games for each of the 16-bit consoles in the Genesis,Snes and T-16(yea I know, its not a true 16-bit system but it sure looks and play like one)? I excluded shumps b/c its been covered in the main Shmups forum obviously. Anyway here are my list...

How can you make a top-10 for PC-Engine, that doesn't include Dracula X!??

Anyway, I tried to make a list of "the top 10 essential" games. I tried to cover asmany different genres as possible. Of course only ten games is not enough to cover all the essentials.

Or did you want a list of top 10 personal favorites? If so, then my lists would include a lot less RPGs, and be more action-game biased.

PC-Engine:

- Akumajo Dracula X: Chi No Rondo
- Snatcher
- Devil Crush
- Bomberman '93
- Parasol Stars
- Kaze Kiri
- Ys Book I & II
- Legend of Xanadu
- Neo Nectaris
- Tokimeki Memorial

Megadrive:

- Gunstar Heroes
- Alien Soldier
- Contra HC
- Shining Force II
- Phantasy Star IV
- Monster World IV
- Herzog Zwei
- Streets of Rage II/Bare Knuckle II
- Lunar The Silver Star
- Snatcher

Super Famicom:

- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
- Contra III
- Castlevania IV
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
- Seiken Densetsu III
- Final Fantsay VI
- Chrono Trigger
- Panel De Pon/Tetris Attack
- Clock Tower
- Super Metroid

Good question, thats b/c the game never came out here in the US unfortunately and I've never really had the chance to play it until recently through emulation. I will wait until I'm finish with the game before putting it in the top ten. Judging from what I've experience so far, its an awesome game indeed and should make it into my top 10 after I beat it. I'm sure the experience would've been greater if I had gotten it when it was first release.

...and yes, essentials is what I was looking for..

TG 16 had Bonze Adventure (that is until Taito Legends 2 comes along), Ghouls N Ghosts, and a fewother great games, it's too bad I didn't own one, but I know someone who did, we'd get tired of Mario World (this was back when SNES first came along) then we'd hit the TG-16 for a few hours, usually on the goodness known as Bonk.

But Bonze Adventure is a great little quriky title, just thought I'd throw it in because it's not on anyones top 10 list yet. ;)
