Is this a correct copy

Post by ryosnk »

A huy is selling r-type 3 for the ps2 for only $14. Is the information correct or is this a bootleg? This is what he email me with.

This copy is an HK distribution copy with, japanese english mix menu and options, no inst, just game and case. This will never be released in here.

Mint. No scratches, no abuse kept in nice clean area under proper temp. Played tested and fully functional. If you have or use mod ge swap, its fine. USA ps2 needs that to play. Email me for questions. But you better move fast these will be gone. Email me if you don't have a paypal account.

Format is for Asian Import Not NTSC/UC

Please do your research or email me to see if your playstation 2 can play it or not. Game will work on Asian Version of Ps2 console HK KR TW SG CN. Please check compatability of your system. Game will not work on (US U/C PAL some J).

I do not offer technical support. I do know that this game is not recognized on the new slimline ps2 SCPH-70xxx import models and perhaps some other recent models. I do know however it reads on older SCHP-30xxx import models.

If it's the seller I think it is, it's a bootleg. If you check his item list, he's probably selling lots of "HK Distribution Copies" of lots of games, for very cheap...I think I asked the same question some time back, and was told not to spring for it.

R-Type 3? AFAIK the only versions of R-Type 3 are the SNES original and the crappy GBA port.

That is most definitely a bootleg. As BulletMagnet pointed out, there are only two versions out there. There is no reason whatsoever that Irem would port the game to Hong Kong and nowhere else.

mint/ no scratches mean jack shit if it's a bootleg. :/

do yourself a favor-- go here and get the SNES cart version. By far the best. ....well, by far the only version worth playing, more like it.

For all you know, this bootleg DVD could just be an emu-port of the GBA version.. which was god-awful to a legendary extent-- right up there with the Mobile Light Force covers and Silpheed: The Lost Planet's gameplay.

Like to know why this guy is still able to sell stuff, myself. I mean, some of us have reported him, haven't we? Just the text alone should flag his auctions with the word BOOTLEGS in bright red text with sparkles and candy. I'd hate for unsuspecting people to think they're getting a deal on a fake.

Definite bootleg. I wouldn't buy that crap. As it's been mentioned earlier: The only two versions of R-Type III are the SNES version, and the horrid GBA port, which destroyed the game. Grab the SNES version if you can, because it's an excellent game. :)

Oh god. The GBA version of R-type 3 is horrible. The developers(DSI Games) are the same lazy cunts that spent the last year porting a bunch of crappy versions of boardgames to GBA.
The games went straight to the Walmart bargain bin.
DSI....worst GBA devs ever, possibly.

^- Actually, the developers have stated (one of them is/was a member here) that they didn't have access to the original source code - they actually had to rip the sprites from the SNES game via an emulator and code the game themselves completely. So the suckiness of the port is not completely their fault.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Yes, I remember he said they had no access to the source code and a very tight deadline, so they also couldn't test the game properly before releasing it.

Lol. They should have just fucking ripped the entire GAME from the SNES version-- All they'd have to take into account is the difference in screen sizes, and compensate accordingly-- either scrunch the game, or scroll up/down, ala R-Types for the PSX.

Goddamned DSI.

If it's "the8th_man" (and I suspected as much from the familiar "I do know that this game is not recognized on the new slimline ps2 SCPH-70xxx import models and perhaps some other recent models. I do know however it reads on older SCHP-30xxx import models."), count on it being a bootleg. :?

I bought a *real* copy of Mushihimesama on eBay from another seller and he even mentioned the8th_man as a bootlegger!

Although the copy you are talking about is a bootleg, but there is actually a official Hong Kong/Asia version of R-Type Final.

The game and manual are in Japanese, the disc is NTSC-J, and the cover artwork is the same as the Japanese version. The only difference is the product's batch number SCAJ20029 and the barcode is 4-948872-450355.

Every time I mension Asia version everyone thought it a bootleg. Some decent sellers start mensoning this version as Japanese... :?
