Shame on you for not reading.
According to INH Blog, the next Insanity DVD in their series will be Raiden and Raiden 2, and it will be the first looping game in the series. More details to follow.

Nice. But.... I'm the only who would love to see an insanity DVD of more classic Cave games? I would kill in order to see a release like Mushi's but for Esprade, with art book and all. :D

j/k on the killing part.... well... maybe XD

Esprade world record runs consist of milking the bosses forever and ever. There are already a few videos out that show these techniques.

The only pre-2003 cave shooting game that doesn't have a replay dvd is donpachi. I think it is about time someone paid LAOS-長田仙人 some money to finally break 60m on that game......

A Guwange one with a counter stop run for each character would be really nice.

Will this DVD be region free? I keep reading on here about all these shmup DVDs, but the only one that I know of that will play on a US DVD player is Ikaruga Appreciate.

Yes, all the INH DVDs I have (which are all the ones except the street fighter one, I think) are labelled as region 'ALL'. So is Ikaruga, and so is the Shiki 2 set I have.

I thought I read somewhere the upcoming Mushi DVD was going to be japanese region only, but I couldn't produce any proof of that, so it could be my faulty memory.

Guwange superplays involve lots of boss milking too. It's not QUITE as boring as watching an ESPrade video, but it comes close.

I'd say they're miles apart, but I can see where he's coming from. Still much funner to watch than ESPRade. :)

I reckon cause DX already has the replays on the PSX port.

Still, I'd take an alternate DX replay over Raiden 1 and 2, even. DX improved on them to the point that there's no reason to play them instead of it.

I've got a Dimahoo replay (from Jigsawman awhile ago) of 80,298,730 1CC by TAC, collected 107 out of 108 items. I just watched it again. Pretty amazing, as he bites it twice on the last boss' final patterns (wasting all bombs in the process), down to his very last ship, and then somehow pulls it together, takes the pattern twice without using any of his remaining 3 bombs, and finishes it.

The video preview on the INH site is only the Raiden DX intro. :/

Off topic: I also noticed INH stood for 'Insanity Naked Hunter'.

Icarus did a guide on bakraid last year with videos on scoring here:

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=598

Also, there is a mame replay further down the page.

There's a Miyamoto replay done by YMN that's even more impressive. He gets the full 108 items and dodges some of the last boss' crazy patterns with ease and a life to spare. Too bad there's no Grimlen couterstop as played by KDK. I'd be really curious to see how far he is in the game by the time the score limit is maxed. I'd shell out for a Dimahoo DVD in a second, not to mention Bakraid or Batrider.

I think what happens is the pros set records and then move on to other games, so they might not be capable or interested in just sitting down and getting back into a game that takes hours a day to perfect at that level. Plus, there are probably not enough gamers still playing some of this stuff to warrant the DVDs.

That Bakraid replay that was mentioned is good, but it gives you no idea how to handle the medalling and the x64 chaining at the same time. I think that and Batrider are two of the most mysterious shmups out there as far as how the really high scores are possible.

You can max the score out with Grimlen? I'd love to see a replay of anyone doing good with Grimlen. I just don't understand how people play with him.

Yea you can max out with Grimlen. TAC and YMN both have higher scores than what was released on their tape.

Yea...a Batrider DVD would be nuts, but who knows when LAOS set that record (can anyone find it in Arcadia? I'll look tomorrow.)

LAOS's score is 29,263,970 with Car-pet, Maria and Flying Baron. The Bakraid top score is played by ISO and is over 125 million. Even if these guys don't play the games any more, it would still be cool to see someone else who can come close to the record.

I don't have any Japanese skills, but I got the feeling INH group had some kind of online petition where you could vote for what game you would like to see on a DVD. Anyone have more info on that?

I would love to see 20-29 million Batrider run. Now that would be a DVD to buy.

Maybe if we got some money together we could get LAOS to record a few runs for the western shmupers. I would be willing to pay some serious money for a donpachi 50m+ video. Unfortunately I have no way of contacting him to see how much it would cost.

I bet GaijinPunch has the connections to get into contact with him....
