I've been busy all weekend and haven't had a chance to play any of this, but from what i've seen of the first area so far, which isn't a lot - I unlocked the first two shortcuts - it doesn't feel in any way cheap or a cop out that this area is just an altered version of yharnam. it's so vastly different but the half familiarity adds to the feeling of it being a nightmare.

I haven't made it to any of the bosses yet, but I should have plenty time for it this week.

I am on new game++ with lvl130 character, and Ludwig certainly has been one-shotting me all around.
Otherwise I've had no serious problem except one - for some reason everyone was spamming spectres around the first lamp, and I was not able to return to hunters dream, as it was impossible to activate the lamp.
By the time the spectres were gone, I had run out of all vials (had more than 200) and bullets, and my +10 main weapon was at risk.
Unbelievable trolling :(

But, I think I better go to the forest and join the league, so I can summon one NPC to the Ludwig boss fight. I was also pretty badly stuck with blood starved beast in Ailing Loran chalice dungeon, so I am quite happy to see there are summonable old hunters being added there!

A bit of advice, with Ludwig.

I got this from VaatiVidya.

In the second form, when he does the sword in the ground explosion thing....don't stay in front of him. If you do, after he is done, he will shoot that gigantic magic junk at you, that always kills everyone. You need to jump behind him when he does that (get some distance though). That way, he won't do that horrible attack.

You mean when he holds his sword in the air. Sword in the ground is just the AOE, no follow-up.

I really need to learn the bread & butter moves of the second form. I just haven't fought against it enough. I switched to by bloodtinge NG build and feel like I'm doing a little better against this boss, but I'm starting to think it doesn't even matter so much.

My co-op partner one-shot Ludwig in his second form at the very second he began.
Nice, but what the hell happened?

Yes, when he does the glowing sword, in the ground thing.

Thinking of purchasing a PS4 soon. This isn't directly related to Bloodborne, but something I feel like I need to know before putting down my money. And this seems to be the most appropriate thread to ask this.

Does the PS4 handle accounts the same way the PS3 does? So that you can have an account for each region and play all games and DLC across all your accounts, regardless of their region?

finished the DLC last night. I'm overall satisfied with the content. I have one trophy to get outside of the DLC to get the platinum. Gotta go through those chalice dungeons now.

My wife & I did another 2 player 1 controller run through the game again with a new character. Popped into the DLC as early as possible to procure the Boom Hammer and went through the rest of the normal game with it before popping back into the DLC around level 80. After killing Ludwig we powered up the Holy Moonlight Blade as a secondary. We finished all of the content over the long weekend and absolutely loved it. I have went through it an additional time on my own with the same base vit/end low-ish level skill/arcane character that I previously cleared all chalice dungeons on. Grabbing the Rakuyo with this character was a nightmare and a half, but it has been well worth it. Easily my new favorite weapon.

Guys, the last boss of the DLC is fucking ridiculous. It took my wife & I a full night of attempts to beat it, even at level 90.

I'm finding the first dlc boss pretty brutal. I can't seem to dodge the attack where he jumps really high, not the one where he jumps quite high, and it one shots me every time. I'm currently level 75 which seemed fine for the area leading to the boss. thankfully he has the easiest run back in the game, and a non agro enemy who gives 5 vials every time right before the boss room.

OoK was a pain in the ass. first form isn't to bad, but that second form.....man, took me a good 2 days to beat it.

Is the Bloodborne EU GOTY edition readily available on shelves? I'm trying to source one to the USA and having a heck of a time. Thanks.

My memory was messed up.

The Blood Rock is NEAR the Winter Lanterns. It's in the area with the things in the shells.

Here's a vid.

Wow this game is tough. The first / second boss (father g-something) took me more attempts to beat the first time than any boss in any of the Souls games. :?

yeah I found the more aggressive combat quite hard to adjust to at first as well. once you adapt it's not so bad.

also most bosses can be either parried or visceral attacked in some way, figuring that out can make boss fights easier too.

I just finished the dlc. quite surprised that I managed to kill OoK with fewer attempts than both of the previous bosses. I think the whole package is completely amazing. it adds so much to the game as a whole, tons of weapons / armour, loads of interesting lore stuff to get your head around, great areas / bosses. just really amazing all round.

this dlc really makes me think bloodborne might be an even better game than dark souls, although that still has a bigger place in my heart.

-edit- holy shit I just found out there is another boss which I missed!

I don't think that's a problem for me. I've beaten Dark Souls on NG+ w/o a shield too. Father Gascoins third form just kept bashing me uninterruptedly whenever I faced him. My problem must be that I suck at parrying, since I almost never used that in any of the Souls games.

Btw I hear the DLC can be missed. If that's true, I'd appreciate some spoilerless hints on how to enter it!

after you kill Amelia you get two new items from the messengers in the dream, where you got your first weapon etc. then go to cathedral ward and stand where you get the hunter set. you don't want to tackle the dlc till you've done pretty much everything else in the game imo. it's hard!

Alright, thanks! Coincidentally I just killed that boss. Didn't get any items in the dream though. Must be because I probably went a bit early to the cathedral (bought the key and didn't go to Old Yharnam yet).

So far my impression of this game is immensely good. Really enjoyed that last boss fight.

That form is insanely difficult to deal with, so it's not just you. That phase can be skipped entirely with careful use of the tiny music box, backstab/visceral, and a molotov or two--makes for a very satisfying finish, too.
