The 5V regulator is only included in the front loader kit.

Re: Ultimate Frontloader NES ideas
EDIT:
So after playing around with everything I have decided passive mixing is not the way to go with the NES audio. It works sort of but not well enough.
I have decided to use this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016TX ... ge_o00_s00 I will have to desolder all the inputs/outputs then mount it inside the NES.
A more cost effective version would just be expansion audio mixed into mono and then a toggle to pick between mono and stereo sound (which is what I am currently putting out there).
I do wonder if the 9v power for the mixer can be attached to the NES power without issues.
Double Edit:
So it works surprisingly enough I tapped power at the power reg area.

Shown is stereo, mono, and exp audio pots. It is an active mixer and goes to the 3.5mm audio jack.
Currently mono audio is way too high and exp audio gets a ton of audio garbage (when silent); stereo however is fine.
Triple combo edit: Mono dampened with 47k resistor (same as exp audio). Still getting artifacts in the sound when it is quiet. I suppose the lines are picking up interference and the amp is amplifying it to audible levels. Not sure why stereo is unaffected... Ill have to test again since putting it together this final time. Also note that the pots/mixer is too low and was hitting part of the cart slot. I cut it down but in the future I think it would be better to move it. Also if I could do it over I would have use the mounting plate instead of having the nuts showing.
All in all this mod is awesome. I like turning up the stereo and mixing in a little mono. Also exp audio is awesome for the games that support it.
I think in the future I will use my own pots for volume control and let this device do the mixing.
