Exclusive Shooter Games on Xbox
Does anyone know why so many side-scrolling shooter game ports were exclusive to this system for the 7th generation of video game systems? have been exclusively Only a few games like Shikigami no Shiro III, Caladrius, and Under Defeat have been released on Wii or PS3. Akai Katana, Deathsmiles, Dodonpachi Saidai Oujou Mushihime Sama Futari, Otomedius, Senko no Ronde, etc. are all really good games that Japanese players would want to play but these games all got released on a system that not that many Japanese people owned. Does anyone know the reason why Xbox seems to be the preferred console to release these types of games? Are games cheaper to publish on Xbox or something?
Re: Exclusive Shooter Games on Xbox
The condensed answer:
-X360 was faster and easier to program for, and once devs were tooled up for X360 they couldn't afford to (or simply weren't interested in) tooling up for a second platform
-once a few STGs had been released on X360, devs felt obliged to continue releasing X360 games for the loyal fans who'd purchased the console just to play their previous games
-Microsoft Japan made an effort to accommodate devs like CAVE and G.rev
-Sony put some people off-side by making disparaging remarks against a proposed Ketsui PS3 port by Arika
