Things to note. Since they have removed focus attack there's no way to avoid the footsie game. Also getting in is harder. 3 frame jab hit confirms into massive damage has gone, this game wants you to commit.

Like sf3 meaties are back and they are important. Back dashes are not Op anymore and don't confer invincibility like in iv. Though with quick get up you have to be fast to utilise meaties or get them off an untechable knockdown.

Also the removal of one framers is welcome imo. Back in iv people artificially removed 1framers with plinking.

Sounds like I'm going to suck really bad... but if it feels very much like 3S then I'll give it a try :)

Infiltration's thoughts on SF5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2O5AWiDbp8

He compares it to Tekken 7, which a lot of top players hate because it's too simple in comparison to TTT2.

I really wonder if the top Japanese players will take the game seriously, especially since it's not getting an arcade release. Has Japan ever cared about a console exclusive fighter?

His more recent thoughts on SFV:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1orQiSv5Cc

Pretty sure that they will take it seriously because of capcom pro tour already.
It's hard to compare the game to the earlier SF games. It feels like it's own game tbh, but because of how honest and footsie-based it is, I'd say that it's a modern SF2.

Those six characters are balrog, guile, urien, ibuki, juri and Alex. That's what people are saying online.

As for tekken I am excited for 7. I need more fighters in my ps4

From the recent Nintendo Direct, Pokken Tournament is coming Westward on Wii U, and just in case you thought Sonic or Snake were the most "...really?" characters you'd ever see in Smash Bros., well...

Yhaa I'd never thought Cloud would ever show up... I mean out of all the Final Fantasy Characters that has shown up on an Nintendo console it had to be the character from a game that made the Playstation a success.

I just don't get it.... but then again he does look pretty interesting so far. Looking forward to trying him out :)

Oh yhaa I'm pretty hyped about Pokken lol

I think of it as a balanced version of Ultimate Ninja Storm :D

The only time Cloud's ever been on a Nintendo console is in either a spinoff (Theaterhythm) or as a guest character you don't really see much of (Kingdom Hearts CoM). I can't really think of a less appropriate choice other than like... Crash Bandicoot.

See I never even knew Cloud appeared in these games... shows how much I know about Final Fantasy.

Never been a fan of the franchise.... last Final Fantasy game I ever enjoyed was North American Final Fantasy III (Final Fantasy VI)

If it only had been an SNES era character like Cecil or Terra ;_;

Now that would have "made sense" in the same way Mega Man and Ryu do.

Smash never made sense.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

That's a scary Hugo indeed. Loved this part. Always cool to see a good grappler.

By the way, the uploader is the same dude with that hilarious boss rage video (which just happens to be against Hugo as well).

Sigh, what a sad state fighting games are in. Every new SFV character sets new records for lack of taste in character design, and KOF XIV does not only look like complete crap but is also directed by SFIV's director, so it will most likely play like crap too.

Probably the worst und most unfitting character design, I've ever seen for a SF game. Looks like he's straight out of some obscure NeoGeo fighting game no one cared for or even Clayfighter. What were they thinking? And I thought it couldn't get worse than Aladdin and Tarzan.

oh my fuck, the dream isn't dead
KOF14 still looks a bit ugly [at least Leona looked entirely fine], but hot fuck am I excited.
Angel being back is amazing. That leaked list seems to be hitting on all sixes so far.

50 characters, wonder what the balance will be like? KOF's balance isn't usually too miserable if not fantastic [even the lower-rank characters generally have some sort level of usefulness].

As for SF5, Fang looks stupid. Who the fuck let that happen?
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

The Capcom Cup starts in twenty minutes. There's a $250,000 prize pool, so a lot is on the line. http://capcomcup.com/

I guess if I had to pick someone to win it, I'd go with Infiltration. While Daigo is the king of long sets, anything can happen in the short sets they play at these tournaments. Someone who plays a variety of characters (like Infil) should have the advantage over the character loyalists, even if they aren't as strong a player.
