Nice try Epic but locked to a shitty DRM client does not equal free.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

"Shitty DRM Client"
So now it's not just about the DRM, it's about Steam in general. Which is an excellent service, btw.

I took a look around the Epic Games forums trying to figure out what exactly the story is with the launcher. I immediately saw the "launcher not working" thread and laughed. Pass. I'll give them my money through the 360 if I ever decide I want it.

Does it really hurt you to try? Because the launcher is working for most people and it's a chance to get to play a way superior version of the game and save 15$. For five minutes of your time, that isn't a bad deal.
But is the game good though
Supposed to be, I couldn't play it on the 360 because controls were terrible. PC version seems to control perfectly though.

Thanks for the link. I gave it a try. Not surprisingly, it doesn't run well on my comp since it barely meets the requirements. Nice that they made it available for free, though.

I enjoyed this game quite a bit when it first came out. Would definitely recommend for £0.

I played the fuck out of Shadow Complex when it was released. Like Boson says - totally worth the asking price.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

I thought it was OK.

Really overrated though. The scores are a bit misleading. It can't touch a game like Super Metroid, that it is aping.

That's crazy - EVERY single one of three news-carrying internet places I went to this morning mentions Shadow Complex. I can't remember this much hype from the days when it was new.

Oh hell no. It isn't even close to Super Metroid. Its a Metroid style game set in a universe that reminded me a lot of Metal Gear. It did have some cool gadgets (foam gun!) and a few good boss fights.

For you speed runners out there the record is 5:14, which is simply insane.

My favorite segment of the game is
Spoiler
after you get the scuba gear swimming through the cafeteria. It's so eerie and quiet. Nevermind the corpses.

You can launch the game with "-AUTH_LOGIN= -AUTH_PASSWORD= -AUTH_TYPE=" if you really want to avoid the launcher.

I just did that on a different computer. It might be DRM free.

I'm just disappointed they nixed 4:3 support when the 360 had it. I made a post about it in their bug forum so hopefully they'll put it back in.

Also the audio quality seems poor in parts, especially voices. A post on NeoGAF also made it seem like the colors are different in certain portions of the game
