Looking to buy Under Defeat and Radilgy, usually go for Play-Asia but they're now fully declaring the price of games apparently. I don't mind paying import tax and VAT (I'm in the UK), but I can't say I'm a fan of the £10-£20 "handling fee" that gets charged on top when it happens. So, are NCSX "import friendly", in that they underdeclare the value of the item?

Moved to off-topic.

It's been a while since I've ordered from NCSX, but I seem to remember they underdeclared value automatically. I know I've never had to deal with customs or taxes with their orders.

I wrote to P-A twice about this matter. First they said that there will be 50% of price on package. 2nd time(yesterday) they said there will be no prob with 10%;] I hope they at least know each other there;p

Yes - you need to request that they do so when you place the order (there's an 'any other instructions' box to fill in on the final order page).

Getting nailed with heavy duties happened to me a lot with play-asia in the past, however, you can e-mail them with further instructions for your orders. I asked them to declare the value at 50% for three of my outstanding orders at once, and just this morning I asked for my most recent order and they returned by asking if I wanted them to do it automatically for all my future orders.

They'll help you if you ask!

Man, these fees you guys get is ridiculous. I hope this trend never reaches the states.

I'd imagine Play-Asia would do pretty much anything you ask them. Their customer service is awesome.

I was a bit worried about ordering Under Defeat and Radilgy from play-asia after a couple of charges so I emailed them about it and got this back pretty much instantly -

"Hello Richard,

thank you for contacting Play-Asia.com

We can put half price on your future invoices. Please be reminded that
you
will not be compensated in full in case the parcel is lost or damaged
during transit. Further in case customs do not believe the value and
seize
the goods, it will be out of our control and we will not replace the
parcel. Please confirm if you still wish us to go ahead.

If you have any further question, please do not hesitate to ask.

Uh, this "trend" already applies to the states, however videogames just happen to be an item that incurs no duty for import to the US. If you bought an item that incurs duty (like golf clubs, for example) then if you were charged the 4.9% (for that item) import duty you'd very likely also get the stupid handling fee from the carrier on top. As for our VAT (17.5% "value added tax", go figure), read your sales taxes, the difference being that in the UK this is always almost always already pre-applied to the price so you never usually see it when you buy something from within the UK.

It's worth bearing in mind that anything over £18 ($31) is liable for import duty & VAT, and amount payable is worked out on item value + postage cost. So, for a half-price declared ($39.95) Ltd. Ed. Under Defeat with cheap postage ($6.40) the potential would be:

(((22.53+3.6)*1.035)*1.175)-(22.53+3.6) + x = £5.64 + x

Where x = made up handling charge.

It is strange, P-A had never declear the value of the packages sending to me. The custom declearation label is not even on any of the packge.

BTW, they don't even charging me for any postage if I was only purchasing games.

It's a standard email response that they send to anybody who asks, from the look of things - I had the exact same email (well, bar the name at the top, obviously) sent to me when I asked them to mark a package down recently.

Haha, don't you live in Hong Kong? Customs declaration is only needed for international shipment.

If youre in the USA and you want imports...I HIGHLY recommend NCSX. I always order from them. Even C.O.D!!!

Maybe they could even sell our CD? It wouldnt hurt to ask.
