DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Genesis and Murakumo can rest their burst next to a laser and move into it at any point. Others need to run into the laser during the startup of their burst. The latter is easier than you might expect & doubly so if the laser is moving towards you.

No, Genesis' beam work like in G-Darius, where you can activate it at any time, and the only thing you need to do to counter is to hold it against an enemy beam.rtw wrote:You mean it's beam deploys faster than the other ships ?Icarus wrote:You don't need to cut-in counter with Genesis - or Gaiden, for that matter - as its beam works like it does in G-Darius
For the "traditional" Burst Unit ships you have to almost come into contact with the beam - a split second before taking the hit - and activate your beam at that moment to counter it. It will not activate otherwise, and you'll take at least one shield hit, usually three or four.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Exactly this. I should've probably clarified that I was talking about Legend / Next (and Formula?)Icarus wrote:No, Genesis' beam work like in G-Darius, where you can activate it at any time, and the only thing you need to do to counter is to rapidfire against an enemy laser.rtw wrote:You mean it's beam deploys faster than the other ships ?Icarus wrote:You don't need to cut-in counter with Genesis - or Gaiden, for that matter - as its beam works like it does in G-Darius

Genesis and Murakumo you can just cross beams at any time but Legend and Next require more precise timing and it's harder to trigger it.
Origin and Second have no burst laser or countering at all, but their base scoring rates are massively increased to compensate, so you'll want to be steering well away from any red beams with those.
I'm not sure at all about the Gaiden bomb's reaction to lasers so I can't comment there.
RE: Cut in timing with Legend/Next, the way to think about it is to recognise that delay between the button being held and the burst laser firing. You want to be moving into an enemy's beam in that delay period, so you'll hold to burst, THEN touch the enemy beam, and you should counter it okay. It takes practice but when you've nailed it, it's a colossal amount easier.

Don't you have to mash the Burst button with Genesis when Counterbursting, like how it worked in G-Darius?Icarus wrote:No, Genesis' beam work like in G-Darius, where you can activate it at any time, and the only thing you need to do to counter is to hold it against an enemy beam.rtw wrote:You mean it's beam deploys faster than the other ships ?Icarus wrote:You don't need to cut-in counter with Genesis - or Gaiden, for that matter - as its beam works like it does in G-Darius

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I don't think that mechanic is in this. The counterburst strength you get from the Genesis ship in this is dependent on how long you collide lasers, up to a gold laser. You can just hold the fire button without the need to tap for those additional bursts.Durandal wrote:Don't you have to mash the Burst button with Genesis when Counterbursting, like how it worked in G-Darius?

Gaiden has the Black Hole bomb, so how does that work? I really prefer this ship, but can't seem to do shit against bosses with the bomb?Icarus wrote:You don't need to cut-in counter with Genesis - or Gaiden, for that matter - as its beam works like it does in G-Darius so "great success" is meaningless in this context.1up wrote:Yes, I've had great success doing this also with the Genesis ship

Gaiden plays like Origin/Second (without the augmented attack power), but with a mid-range bomb you charge up and can use as much as you like.1up wrote:Gaiden has the Black Hole bomb, so how does that work? I really prefer this ship, but can't seem to do shit against bosses with the bomb?

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
It's actually possible to go through a burst laser (with any ship, I think) without doing a counter and without getting hit. I'm not entirely sure on how it works, but I believe it's related to the bombs; you need to pass through it just frames after a bomb touches the laser in front of you. It was pretty necessary in the PSP version vs Great Thing since it had an attack that was literally unavoidable with Origin unless you managed to master this nigh-impossible technique. And also this only works with Burst lasers, try it with any other kind of laser and you will get hit.Icarus wrote:You don't need to cut-in counter with Genesis - or Gaiden, for that matter - as its beam works like it does in G-Darius so "great success" is meaningless in this context.1up wrote:Yes, I've had great success doing this also with the Genesis ship

Cut-in counters are for ships with "traditional" Burst Units eg Legend, Next, Assault, Formula etc that need a "near-death" trigger to activate.
Origin and Second don't have Burst Units at all, so cutting-in is really another way of saying "I'm an idiot and want to die". :V
Well, it's possible unless they changed it in DBAC/DBCS for some reason (notably, the unavoidable attack is no longer unavoidable).

Just barely managed to beat the CS mode final mission after a lot of tries, what a rush. CS is superb but can feel grindy if you just want to reach the end. I'll make a map showing fastest routes to points of interest some time after the game is released.

In the options control menu there are two burst settings:
BURST
F:BURST
Can someone tell me what the difference is ?

With Legend, Next and Formula ships, you could lock your burst beam on the spot by double tapping the burst button, then control it by moving without holding down the fire button.rtw wrote:In the options control menu there are two burst settings:

Instead of double tapping burst, you can use the F. Burst as a short cut key.
Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Thanks for the heads up, been double tapping up to now when setting up "angle protection"Vally wrote:With Legend, Next and Formula ships, you could lock your burst beam on the spot by double tapping the burst button, then control it by moving without holding down the fire button.

The counter-burst is still not clicking with me, I can do it consistently and then the next 4 times I'm lasered

Does anyone know if Burst Mode from the PSP game is present in CS?

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
The game consists of two separate modes - AC Mode, and CS Mode.kane wrote:Sorry to kill your flow, but could somebody please give me an executive summary of what those 200 and 3000 stage modes are about? In all my search I could find no satisfactory explanation. Thanks & cheers.
AC Mode is a direct conversion of the Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX arcade cabinet, complete with 32:9 aspect ratio and dual screen support. This contains Original and Original EX mode (Choose a route, play 3 stages), but also contains something called Chronicle Mode. This is what the 3000 stage mode is all about.
Basically in Chronicle Mode, you start off on one planet with its own mission grid:

Each of those hexes represents a set of levels with a clear requirement. By completing a hex and fulfilling the clear conditions, you then 'liberate' that area on the map, and unlock everything else around it. By exploring the map and liberating certain areas, you unlock more planets to travel to, more missions all with their own different conditions and rules.
Chronicle mode progress is held online in a 'virtual cabinet', and progression in Chronicle isn't just you - It's everyone else on the same virtual cabinet as you, so you're working together with everyone else online to unlock everything that Chronicle has to offer.
The second game mode is CS mode, which is a home console / PC optimised version of the game, designed for a single screen instead of two, with exclusive content such as new levels, a new ship, new music, bosses, etc. This is the what the 200 stage mode is about - It's kinda like Chronicle mode, except it's your progression only, but the concept is almost exactly the same - You travel from hex to hex completing sets of missions with their own conditions and ships, with the main difference being you earn points for completing missions, and can use these points to choose your own custom ship / configuration setup before heading out onto missions.
I hope this helps clarify.

Wasn't this where you only had a single life and no continues but a maxed out ship? I'm not familiar with the PSP version very much at all.Durandal wrote:Does anyone know if Burst Mode from the PSP game is present in CS?
CS mode is similar to this by default - You can't continue on a mission. If you lose your lives, mission fails and you have to start it again.

Looks like PS4 release is delayed to December 2nd: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/11/ ... r-1212015/
You can use a fully customized ship in CS mode to do something similar to this, but score is invalidated.Vally wrote:Wasn't this where you only had a single life and no continues but a maxed out ship? Huh! Wasn't aware at all that custom ship did that. TIL.Zaarock wrote:You can use a custom ship in CS mode to do something similar to this, but score is invalidated.

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
I find a strange situation in CS mode, you can recover your burst by attack enemies in some mission, but sometime it doesn't work, you must destory enemies.
And there is no replay function.

Ah, too bad it's not included, it was my favourite mode. I always wanted to see the weapon switching mechanic return in future Darius games, having each weapon type be able to cancel another certain bullet type did make for some interesting situations. Maybe an idea for a new ship in the future?Vally wrote:Wasn't this where you only had a single life and no continues but a maxed out ship? Murakumo has this feature. Different option formations cancel different bullet types. There's plenty of CS missions where you use murakumo which can be fun to play for score.Durandal wrote:Ah, too bad it's not included, it was my favourite mode. Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Re: DARIUS BURST CHRONICLE SAVIOURS (STEAM/PS4/Vita)
Does CS mode ever give you a total score across all missions? It'd be interesting to be ranked on that more than on individual missions - makes it worth playing for score without having to hunt for individual missions that actually have others playing it for score.

I don't follow PSN releases too closely but there's been at least one example of an off-Tuesday update (Trails in the Sky SC a month ago was released on a Thursday.)

Dafuq is the deal with the Playstation dates? I have no idea when I can actually purchase this, I've seen every day listed between 11/30 -12/5, that is except fot 12/1... the day the store actually updates (NA). Also the prices are still apparently a state secret. -_-.

I feel excited to play DB for once this week. Too bad it will have to be on a Thursday but oh well it will be here soon enough!

Any of you playing on Vita? I'm posting from Thailand where it's been Nov. 30th for quite some time, and I'm just waiting for the NA PSN store to catch up to me (my Vita is still on NA region).
