There's a MAME build floating around that uses MAME's sample system to let you play FLAC or WAV versions of the Sega CD Final Fight's music with the arcade version of Final Fight. If you're a Final Fight fan, it's pretty much the ultimate way to play.

Stuff like this can be done with snes games as well.
I think in time we might be able to do this with the actual arcade hardware, perhaps by linking a small device to it. Android, old phone, Phi, etc..
Capture all of the data, find out what triggers the bgms. Somehow disable the original bgms and start playing other versions. Seems doable. Not that it would be easy at all.
This is a beginning though. The Final Fight CD music sounds awesome!
