Are there any current options for getting an Xbox 360 to display on a Sega Astro City's 15khz monitor?
Both the Ultracade UVC and Scart2Jamma V2 are not made anymore.
The only thing that I've remotely been able to find available is one of those Chinese VGA to CGA converters:

Suggestions? @_@
(I also want to run a Wii in an arcade cab as well.)

I think Lemony Vengeance did a nice solution for this, not sure if he makes 'em anymore though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qe3yu4dWTWk

Yep, that'd be viletim's Scart2Jamma version 1 pcb device -- very impressive piece of work I'd have to say myself. In fact, just today, I hooked up a 3rd-party Scart cable hack to a PCE Core Grafx II console to a S2J ver. 1 pcb setup and it works like a charm on the ol' Egret II candy cab with a dual-sync 15kHz/24kHz arcade monitor setup. Audio is handled with a handy built-in audio attenuator, so the audio portion comes in crystal clear through a candy cab's speaker setup.charlie chong wrote:Vilitem used to make a pcb for this. you just connected a scart lead and pad hack and away you went.

You might get lucky with an Ultracade uVC (Universal Video Convertor) setup on eBay -- I've seen 'em for sale on there from time to time or just place a Wanted to Buy thread here on the Shmups.org. They're certainly worth their weight in gold, alrighty.
With a Wii, you'd just need a Wii component video cable hooked up to a 3rd-party component video to VGA adapter transcoder device and then fed through an uVC setup to run on a low-res 15kHz arcade monitor setup. Easy as pie.

So Tim quit making the scart2jamma? Too bad. (Did you ask him?)
With a 360 scart cable you would have only gotten interlaced video anyway.
Can you solder?

I've also used a capcom naomi interface to deal with the conversion from vga to jamma cleanly.
If your monitor can't deal with 480p, you can use an extron Emotia as well.

I hope Tim still makes the scarttoJamma adapters, they were wonderful.
Over at arcadeotaku, I saw this:

But yes both the 360 and native Wii games will be in 480i whle using scart.

http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic. ... 91#p438091All the baseboards are the same, the small daughter boards are interchangeable and are what replicate the console controller logic.
Also shown is an optional CPS1/CPS2 kickharness adapter to make hooking up cabs with the correct harness a whole lot easier.

Thanks for the heads up to ask him. I did just that and he had some still available, so I went ahead and ordered a Scart2Jamma.antron wrote:So Tim quit making the scart2jamma? Too bad. (Did you ask him?)

Good to hear, I guess he has a lot of RGB console upgrade business now.
And now we know about the arcadeotaku ones, they look sweet.

It's true I don't make them any more, but there are still a few left in stock. I wasn't happy with the way the modular controller system turned out. I stopped working on controller boards after the Playstatation one and still consider it an unfinished project. That's why I don't sell it through the shop.rugdoctor wrote:I hope Tim still makes the scarttoJamma adapters, they were wonderful.
I've started working on a version 3. There is still a long way to go until it's ready, but I do intend to see it through this time.
Consoles first need RGB before they will work with the JAMMA adapter. Think of it as preparation work.antron wrote:Good to hear, I guess he has a lot of RGB console upgrade business now.
