Mushihimesama on Steam
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
v1.1.2.8 Patch is looking good so far.
Constant 60fps. Stuttering pretty much gone with the new v-sync option set to 1 in the ini. Game is opening in full-screen at last, so that setting is saving fine for me now. With the less serious issues also being addressed, this port and the initial foray onto STEAM seems like a win, to me.
Nice work, guys.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
v1.1.2.8 is definitely a huge improvement, kudos to Degica and CAVE for the rapid fixes.
Only small issues left (for me)
. Disable wallpaper
. When you're in tate mode the CAVE logo and title should also be tate'd
. Fix the sound quality in v1.5
. Local saves
. Disable continues like on the PCB
Apart from that this is looking very good

Gotcha. That could be annoying.

Oh my god the patch .28 patch was yesterday and this thread's OP still hasn't been updated:

God damnit, it's hard to believe that there's so much behind-the-scenes stuff happening that you don't have the 5 minutes it takes to update that thread.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Probably more to do with a newly established authorizing/approving of a post/official communication between/within developer/publisher. Sure it might actually be counter productive, but such things often happen... Especially if a small team takes issue with a description of an issue/fix... It's likely whatever's going on behind the scenes is as annoying to the original poster as it is to you...Cagar wrote:Oh my god the patch .28 patch was yesterday and this thread's OP still hasn't been updated:

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
A lot of times this stuff gets updated in the middle of the night (because the Japan team pushes the new builds up). So I don't see it until the next day. It's updated now.
In any case, a manual V-Sync toggle has been added via the .ini files, which should help a lot. You can now use whichever setting gives you the most benefit.
I have a feeling that some of the chugging/stuttering that we're still seeing is actually a consequence of the bug which can cause poor performance after uploading to/accessing the leaderboards. We should fix that next.
I investigated the fix to disable the combination of "Rapid Shot" and "Full Auto Shot" (aka "Super Shot"). Super Shot was removed because pressing both buttons at once was causing incorrect movement of the player's options. However, after reconsidering the effect of removing Super Shot on high level play and score attack, we decided to revert the change because the option error was not severe.
Getting there on the errors, once the worst of the game-affecting stuff is gone, we can move on to expanding some features.

We're also working on getting Mushihimesama on GOG. If GOG sees a lot of demand for Mushihimesama on their platform, it will help convince them to pick up the game and get it on their store more quickly.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
Ideally we'd be able to fix it without removing Super Shot. However, if it comes down to a choice between an option bug that doesn't bother many people, and taking out Super Shot which would bother a lot of score attackers, I'd rather leave Super Shot in.Bonus! wrote:Are you trying to fix the weird behavior of the options, too?
Highest priority feature additions would be things like more resolution options and CC-like global leaderboards - stuff that's been heavily requested.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
any news on local score saves?
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
I finally got a chance to boot it up.
If I click "full screen", my LG 34UM95 monitor (21:9 3440x1440) loses sync and goes black. I have to ctrl-alt-del and manually kill the task -IF- I can get task manager up. Otherwise it's a hard reset.
Using Windows 10 and NV 980 GPU if that matters.

Weird.
If I enable vsynch in the ini file, doesn't work. I still get the tearing.
However, I can eliminate it in nvidia console by switching vsynch on there.
What gives?
Level 3 is still unplayable. Better, but still choppy as all hell.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
If you're talking about the trace options lagging behind reco while using powershot. that's completely normal. On the TLB I find it's beneficial to delay using the powershot so that your options line up faster. Getting the lasers on him faster ends up doing a little bit more damage than using powershot all the way down.
In other words, it's part of the gameplay. I didn't notice anything else unusual about how the options behave.

I found that if I set it to certain wallpapers it didn't flash. For me it was the first few wallpapers, the ones that are sorta abstract designs, that would flash like this. I believe I put it on wallpaper 5 or so, and that seemed to stop the flashing wallpaper.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
This is not a bug and doesn't need to be fixed. Holding Full Auto and pressing Rapid Shot at 1/1, with Formation options will gradually make the lasers close in on the character. With 1/20, the options will just "bounce", and with 20/1 they will close in immediately. This is how it's meant to work. Anything in between changes the state of the firing (of bullets), and the "weird behaviour" of the options.Blackbird wrote:Ideally we'd be able to fix it without removing Super Shot. The fact of the matter is that the "super shot" is only one aspect of how autofire works. Unless I'm unaware of it and they're somehow different to the 360 version, they don't need to be touched. Erppo's already gone back to the 360 version because the autofire options were tampered with. I can forsee people claiming the 360 version the definitive version and not playing the Steam version because "it's different", and it'll get real messy real fast. Cave were pretty on point with the rollback and I appreciate it, but for the love of God don't mess with the options again, or anything that changes the core gameplay for that matter.
Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
This game is full of 'weird behavior' especially regarding the options. Any change regarding how the various rapid/auto fire settings interact with each other needs to be extensively checked against the X360 version at the very least. Maybe some of them are true 'bugs' but they've been a part of the game for a long long time; messing with them now just leaves you with a version of the game that's different than all the others and outright rejected by most score-chasers.

It's a bit disappointing to read that Cave's first PC port was off to a rocky start, though it's not really surprising. It's very encouraging to see the patches are flying out, and hopefully once the porting's ironed out, the sales are profitable enough that they can bring more of the games over.

Re: Mushihimesama on Steam
So how is input lag with v-sync enabled?
Keep in mind, Blackbird, this game is vsynced with no input lag on the Xbox 360, PS2, and the original arcade release, so not fixing the lag in the PC version will make it a clearly inferior version.

I don't think it's that simple. x360s, ps2s and pcb's are static bits of kit.
PCs can run in thousands of different configurations, with dozens of different choices for input devices. To a certain extent, Cave can only do so much to eliminate input lag completely on the pc platform. Perfect latency is a fickle sprite, and hard to tack down.
For my money, he input lag with vsync on didn't seem so bad, but I prefer vsync off, just to be safe.

Is a clear of Maniac/Ultra still considered legit if autofire rate is increased?
Not really talking about scoring as I don't fully understand it..

Of course dude, people have been modding their PCB's to do this for scoring/survival purposes since 2004 and their scores all count.Blinge wrote:Is a clear of Maniac/Ultra still considered legit if autofire rate is increased?

Speaking of, what actually are the most beneficial interval settings for scoring in maniac? Given that on the top replays people can raise their counter to be almost 2 million on midbosses etc. Best my interval settings can do is 600k.
