Moving from Sweden to Japan!

Well, PCBs are easier to obtain in Japan so consider selling some or all of those whilst in Sweden. But hold onto the Console Shmups. Like many I picked up my collection 15+ years ago and so for me to acquire my Shmups again would be far too costly.

I think I only need RECCA, Crisis-Force and Radient-Silvergun as the more expensive titles.

The system closest to my heart is actually the neo geo so I might be OK after all. I have almost all the expensive titles on mvs so.. (and that ain't many). The rest ain't even worth selling. . I mean, a fun game like world heroes 2 och samurai shodown aint even worth more than 10-15$.. the only expensive title ia ss5s

No they are not, a lot of shmups are hard to find and are getting more expensive then they are here, check the shops or YHJ .

Must be ace in Holland. Loads of PCBs in Germany of course but not Shmups from the 90s and 80s.

They are available in Japan and you stand a better chance there of finding all you are looking for than in Europe.

Even with a pretty good USD exchange rate, the Tokyo area shops were pretty picked-over and prices were often worse than here. You might get lucky and find some deals in the sticks but don't hold your breath.

Battle Formula isn't THAT good, tho. It's pretty to be sure and has some cool things, but overall I think it's lacking as a shmup.

Yeah, I'm not quite 100% on it myself. Sunsoft/Tokai, bless them, had a habit of occasional cheap shots in even their best stuff, and the autoscrolling (edit: or rather, manual fullspeed scrolling) seemed to exacerbate that.

For now, it's the last big fish on my shortlist, but I ain't in a hurry. ^_~

Only way to collect, imo. Lots of genuinely excellent games are costly... but so are lots of mediocre and outright bad ones. Avoiding two outta three ain't bad! I pity the fullset Saturn collectors in particular - at least non-loaded ones who'll feel the bite of brutally pricey tat like Eyeful Home and Heim Waltz. 3:

Yes, to be honest I am often shocked when I see the prices. I really haven't paid much attention to how things have increased in price. I own all the Saturn Shmups that I want apart from a couple that are not expensive - I hope

I actually started out with a sort of plan when I got into NeoGeo in 1998. I put down the games that I definitely wanted and then made a list that would be nice to have. I have been very fortunate in that I now own all the games that I want for the NeoGeo apart from ninja-Commandos. A chap on Shmups sold me a copy of Shock-Troopers and I am pretty excited to play that after many years.

Yes, real life takes precedence as you get a bit older I found.

Mind you, I have met some very odd people who ONLY think about and spend all their time and money on collecting. Guys who get into the category of 'playing with the rent money' and worse kind of thing. That scares me. I just have a collection that I can look after, maintain and have a lot of fun with.

Mates who visit have fun when we look at what I have too. I feel quite happy to show some people Shmups that they have never seen in the flesh if that makes any sense. Not to be arrogant just simply it is good to show them what was released.
