Shooty Skies

Quite surprised nobody has made a thread for this yet. Mighty Games (the studio responsible for Crossy Road, the Frogger-like) have a new mobile game for Android and iOS and it's a shmup. The visual style is in keeping with their previous release with a low-poly 3D-pixel sort of vibe which looks great but can make it difficult to differentiate between shrapnel and bullets.

The game is free-to-play, you can pay cash to unlock new characters (although these are only cosmetic differences), in-game power up loadouts can be bought using in-game currency (which is easy to earn if you're used to playing shmups).

I'm currently 22nd on the Android leaderboards which is ridiculous because I suck. Be nice to see some shmup farm people filling up those top spots.

Tried it...and liked it...though it didn't blow me away.
I guess it's a good example why for a mobile game less is more
On my Nexus 4 things start smooth and then the framerate is all over the place making it harder than it should be.
I really hope Downwell hits android soon...

Hmm. Haven't had any framerate issues on my Note 4 thankfully.

It's a fun little game and when you're fully powered up it dies have that satisfying feeling of being an airborne killing machine. Explosions are particularly gratifying.

It's not on the same level as some of the 'proper' shmups on mobile but I suppose it's not really aimed at the same audience. I found it quite addictive though.
