Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
Looking at my list and removing ds games nets me interesting(to me) results:
1. Pokemon Shuffle - 60:20 - I guess playing a bit at a time adds up aka wtf?
2. Legend of Zelda A Link Between Worlds - 39:29 - favorite LoZ since snes version. Finished hero mode
3. Mario Kart 7 - 21:42 - I like this one better than DS one
4. Super Mario 3D Land - 17:52 - finished all levels not all stuff though. Fun game
5. Code of Princess - 17:03 - good humor. Fighting not that exciting. Finished
6. Pilotwings Resort - 8:58 - This game made me buy a 3ds. Too short but awesome
7. 3D Super Hang-On - 8:47 - Top notch Sega 3D Classics. Love it.
8. Paper Mario - 5:48 - Gave up on it. Didn't like it.
9. 3D Out Run - 5:11 - Top notch Sega 3D Classics. Love it.
10. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D - 5:08 - free club Nintendo. Doesn't grab me like she's original.
Love the Sega 3D Classics got more but haven't played enough. Had to dig down 20 spots to get 10 3ds games. Been mostly catching on ds backlog, couple of professor Layton's,couple of ace attorney, 999, etc...
I don't get to play much a few mins here and there. Longest average session 2:12. Most times around 0:30

Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
I got a 3DS XL last month so I am def new to gaming on this handheld, but I have always loved handheld gaming especially at night when I need something to help me sleep. I have a Vita which I love, but if it wasn't for MH4U and SMTIV I might not have gotten a 3DS, though I wanted many of it's titles, those two just forced me to buy it, haven't played a proper monster hunter since "the claw" on MHFU on psp. Just got this console so don't expect much from my numbers.
1. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate 7:43 (I should have bought this a long time ago, I have always loved the MH games.)
2. Animal Crossing NL 7:00 (Can pick up and put down for very short sessions and helps me get to sleep)
3. Legend of Zelda Link Between Worlds 4:11 (Just got this game and I love it, my favourite zelda is link's awakening for nostalgia reasons. LBW feels extremely easy though.... might check out that hero mode after i finish it)
4. Fire Emblem Awakening 3:00 (picked this up last week was on my wish list for very long I have followed previous FE games. playing on classic hard)
5. Super Mario 3D Land 2:30 (I am enjoying this game because it's relaxing but it is very very easy from what I have played so far.)
My backlog is massive, mostly because I have been saving up for so long, and finally bought everything on my wishlist in one swoop. Some I managed to get extremely cheap on ebay, and others I obtained from friends via trade.
#SMTIV (Bought the system for this, but still playing P4G on vita, wanna finish that before starting on this)
#Phoenix Wright Dual Destinies (Finished all the previous ones, but wanna finish Dangan Ronpa before I get started on this VN)
#Mario Kart 7 (friend gave this to me, suggesting I must play it)
#Bravely Default (heard it is a godlike RPG)
#Kid Icarus (Famitsu gave it a 40/40 so Ithought why not)
#Xenoblade Chronicles (got cheap off a good friend, haven't touched it yet)
#Pokemon Y (Played red and gold as a kid, not sure if I will love this one, but I am sure one day I will get to playing it. (Like DBZ, Pokemon ruled my childhood))
#Zelda OOT & MM (Got these two from a shop that was closing in london, used but the price was good. I have played OOT long ago, but I never did finish it. Got Majora's mask because everyone was telling me I had to get it.
I wish there were quality shmups on Vita or 3DS. I remember back during the PSP I poured tons of hours into Gradius collection. Might check out Kokuga since I have heard much about it.

Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
You've built up a great collection already! A Link Between Worlds is not very challenging. The Hero quest is a different story, though. Super Mario 3D Land is fairly easy at first (please avoid the super leaf if it appears). Getting all star coins, and beating the entire game is not. There will be up to five stars on your save file image --- getting all five is quite tough. The first one just for beating Bowser is more a matter of putting the time in.

ThanksBonus! wrote:You've built up a great collection already!

I have been compiling a checklist of games to get for a few years now. The idea was after completing an objective I would treat myself to these purchases. But the years rolled by, and I never had the time. Just so happens a few months back I decided it was time. But when I looked at the list I forgot how long I had been compiling. Lucky I managed to find some these really cheap though, physical media for 3DS is hard to get and expensive.
Looks like that will be my aim for the game. I love some really tough platforming challenges. I actually hadn't heard about this five star thing before reading your post, I will google.Bonus! wrote:A Link Between Worlds is not very challenging. The Hero quest is a different story, though. Best game on the 3ds for me (not counting ports like Xenoblade and Majora's Mask), despite its flaws. I personally recommend avoiding grinding if you want to keep things tactical, though it depends on what kind of playstyle you want to go for. Playing it like a Nippon Icchi title and min-maxing everything has its appeals too.mastermx wrote: 4. That's what one of my friends kept telling me. I was told to get a 3DS just for this. So far from what I have played it is a very very solid game. But your comment on grinding got me thinking, I want to keep the game tactical, but I don't want to miss any side missions, if I do side missions and avoid risens on the map, could I still avoid ruining the difficulty?Squire Grooktook wrote:Best game on the 3ds for me (not counting ports like Xenoblade and Majora's Mask), despite its flaws. Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
Don't worry about, it's not that bad. I did all the side missions and it was fine. Most people just get hooked on the more addictive aspects of reclassing (change to class you want stats and abilities from, level to max, upgrade, level to max, switch back to original class, re-level), spend hours on it, and end up maxing out their characters before they're even halfway through. You can fight some Risen from time to time, just as long as you don't abuse them to the point of making all your guys unstoppable killing machines.mastermx wrote:That's what one of my friends kept telling me. Just one or two unstoppable killing machines should be fine, as per Fire Emblem tradition :3
Also be sure to read hentai of your chosen waifu/husbando while not playing. Gotta get the full experience.

That's good to hear. I guess I will only ever grind should I ever choose to go for a lunatic run.

Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
I recently got New Super Mario Bros. 2 and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Many reviewers seem to have not played this game properly. I think it was in the IGN review where they claimed that there were only two secret worlds, which aren't so secret because they are visible as question marks on the lower screen. Well, there is a bit more to the game. It has, except for one part after you beat Bowser, no progression grate, so you can rush through the game fairly quickly. However, getting all star coins provides a nice challenge. Also, the bonus worlds, special levels etc. are significantly harder. If you like 2D Mario games, you'll most likely enjoy this one, because you can get a lot of mileage out of it. The "collect one million coins" gimmick is fairly pointless, though. However, some may find it motivating regardless.
Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
The last good platformer that had good challenge and hooked me was donky Kong country returns on wii. The 3ds version I've heard runs at 30fps.
It seems Nintendo are the only ones making platformers as a genre I wish it would make a come back. The good days of hard challenging platformers. For some reason those indie games like smb and other platformers just sort of lack the finesse of the classics.
Nintendo need to start adding difficulty settings to their games. And give us hardcore mode for mario games. Better yet Nintendo should also buy out sonic from Sega. Sonic has a lot of wasted potential. But I don't wanna derail the thread lol, just wanted to get this rant off my chest.

Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
Nintendo's way of adding difficulty is to present an easy set of levels with many optional challenges, a super item for the completely incompetent, and then the scrubs get an ending sequence. Then those people can vent on GameFaqs how ridiculously easy Mario games are. Meanwhile, hardcore gamers collect all star coins, and work their way through the second half of the game that opens up after the first ending sequence. That's fine to me. To be honest, if the scrubs would be faced with real challenge, they would not like those games at all, because they are too used to instant respawns and hitting the right trigger to fire their flavor of the month first person shooter, where beating the toughest difficulty mode just means that you may need to respawn a few more times until you finally make it once past the next checkpoint that is a few virtual meters ahead of you.
Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
If you like tactical games, you really should get Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars and play it at the highest difficulty.mastermx wrote:That's what one of my friends kept telling me. And while I haven't played it myself, you probably should see if Codename Steam interests you, it's heavily criticized for either stupid reasons (artstyle) or outdated reasons (there was a patch fixing a major flaw with the game).

Re: Your most played Nintendo 3DS games?
I think part of that is that ALBW isn't really one of those games you sink that much time into (if your'e not a speedrunner). It's not like, say, Monster Hunter or Animal Crossing or Pokémon where there's always stuff to do, a lot of grinding to be had, daily things to take care of and stuff like that.Bonus! wrote:Somehow I would have expected Zelda: A Link between worlds in everyone's list, so it's probably not quite as popular as I thought (fantastic game, though).
1. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS - 212:54 - Though a bunch of it included leaving the 3DS on overnight more than once for a challenge.
2. Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call - 159:09 - That's all playing time though. It's my "default" 3DS game, in that it's the game cart I'll have in when I'm not specifically playing anything else I have on cart.
3. Pokémon Shuffle - 96:57 - Yeah I think I got my money's worth for that game, which means I still haven't paid a single cent for it. But I'll admit, that's more time than I thought I had spent on it, and it's usually 5-10 minutes at a time.
4. Picross e series - 53:32 - Added up the time I've spent on Picross e, e2, e3 and e4 for this one. Currently on e4 and have five hours clocked on that one. Yes, I'm addicted to Picross.
5. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros - 34:30 - That's one single playthrough there.
6. WarioWare: Do It Yourself - 21:41 - Okay, so it's not a 3DS game, but eh.
7. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds - 17:16 - Best Zelda, right here.
8. Kid Icarus: Uprising - 14:03 - Took me a while to get around to playing this, but it's ace.
9. Sayonara Umihara Kawase - 13:28 - It's Umihara Kawase. Though I'm not speedrunning this one.
10. Shovel Knight - 13:17 - I'm actually a bit surprised that this even made the list given the things I've been saying about it.
11. Mighty Gunvolt - 10:54 - This gets to be on the list since I had a DS game up there and it's the last game left I've spent more than 10 hours on.
Honorary mention goes out to 16:57 clocked on Nintendo eShop.
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself
<Despatche> you've been a thorn in the shmups community since the beginning, you're largely responsible for the horrible face of modern speedrunning

Is Code of Princess worth 9.99? (NA Eshop sale) What's so boring about the fighting, looks nice in the trailer?
EDIT: See that you guys already mentioned it a bit. Nevertheless, if I like how it looks, still a nice price? It's good until 11/16

I found the combat slightly clunky but it's passable enough, and it's a fun enough ride with the quirkly humor and gorgeous character art.
Also you get some value there with online co-op of the challenge mode that lets you play as all the enemies.

Code of Princess is a great game, specially if you liked Guardian Heroes, personally I prefer COP over GH but I love both. 10 bucks is a great deal, I'd pay the regular retail all over again if I had to, the game is that good. I think that's the game I spent the most time playing on my 3DS, that and Tetris Axis and now Ultimate of course...szycag wrote:Is Code of Princess worth 9.99?
